“6 days ago I checked in at 7.30am on a Wednesday morning and my hip replacement journey started. This was my 14th surgery since a fateful, wet night on Swanson Road in 1981, so I have a lot to compare it to. I've been in 9 different hospitals over those years, 3 being public hospitals and the other 6 being private hospitals. Brightside is exceptional. For a start, it's small. That means you don't get forgotten. The staffing levels are great and they really get the time to spend with you by your bedside. The staff are lovely. The bestest! It's a sign of how great the workplace culture is at Brightside, that so many staff have been there a long time. Some staff members up to 30 years. Many I spoke to, at least 7 years. The hospital has been there in Epsom for many years, but has had a complete renovation with 4 state-of-the-art operating theatres. No wonder my surgeon wants to use their facilities. The food. OMG, the food! It was the best I've had in a private hospital. Yum. Thank you to Brightside for a great experience. You rock. See you soon for my 15th surgery.”
“Got there for a tonsillectomy for the son, everything was incredibly smooth, considerate and organised since the first call, throught to filling forms, receiving instructions from the admission and anesthetist to getting to the hospital. On the day, we received the best treat ever, the entire process was easy and guided, doctor was skilled and experienced, we were discharged after 4 hours with the kid drinking and eating close to normally, on top of that, they called me on the next day to check in....overall, was phenomenal, should be a role model for the other medical services providers in New Zealand.”
“Mariam is one of the best doctors!. My cat healed up in 2 days. I highly recommend you all to bring your pets to come see Mariam. 100/100 will only be visiting this hospital for my pets.”
“A huge thank you to the amazing beautiful friendly nurses and staff that helped me after my roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery on Friday. You sure made me feel welcomed and cared for. Your hearts and soul are in the job as nurses just amazing and so very patient. Thanks again”
“I’d like to give a special thank you to Silverdale Vet Hospital. Chelsea was incredibly helpful and sympathetic, She took the time to listen, offered support, and genuinely cared about us. That kind of kindness and professionalism really makes a difference, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s rare to find someone willing to go above and beyond purely out of compassion — and Chelsea did exactly that. I highly recommend Silverdale Vet Hospital for their supportive and caring approach.”
“Wonderful nurses ,they look after there patients as if they where there own family member.”
“We cannot fault the treatment our son received at Starship any of the times we’ve visited. Our concerns and his wellbeing were always taken incredibly seriously. The doctors, nurses and even triage staff at reception deserve so much more recognition for the outstanding work they do.”
“My husband was given excellent care at N/S ED on Saturday the 28th of September. He saw Kate (Nurse Practitioner intern)! Kate was amazing and she gave very professional care, attention and showed empathy! My husband understood everything that he was told which put his mind at rest! Well done! Kind regards, Alison & Derek Hobbs”
“North Shore Hospital I recently had an extended stay at North Shore Hospital, and I can’t say enough good things about the entire team. From the moment I was admitted, the staff were incredibly caring and attentive. They truly went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Every nurse, doctor, and support staff member showed genuine compassion, and it was clear they really cared about my recovery. I’m incredibly grateful for their professionalism and kindness during a pretty tough time. Huge thanks to everyone there, you all made a big difference! Definitely a five-star experience. Thanks, Caleb”
“To all the doctors, nurses and support workers in in the kids first ED- from a mom who had two overnight admissions with two of my kids within a week’s span. One a suspected accident related issue and the other a medical issue. You all are superstars, doing your best and beyond tirelessly even in the middle of the night to make sure each and every child is taken care of. Your services are nothing short of legendary. With sincerity I can say both my children were attended and treated to the best care in the best possible duration. Thanks a million once again.”
“I want to express my complete gratitude to the emergency department team and the nurses in the Rangtira ward. We went in thinking one thing, but were quickly rushed in where 3 drs and 5 nurses worked so quickly to help our little boy start to breathe again. I know that’s your job, but he is our life, and we can’t thank you enough ❤️ once in recovery, Erica, a nurse in the Rangitira ward was so accommodating and caring and natural, that it made our stressful time there easy. Health professionals don’t get enough gratitude. They have a real job that actually matter. Thanks guys and girls. Love you all ❤️❤️❤️”
“To be honest I was a bit skeptical being transferred from Auckland hospital to Middlemore Plastics Unit. However was pleasantly surprised at the level of care I received. From the friendly orderly's to the professional nurses, doctors & surgeons who explained everything and ensured thorough tests were done and that I remained there till ready to leave. Thanks Team!!! Your efforts and hard work are Much Appreciated!!!!”
“Kamini was amazing, helped me, and successfully delivered the most amazing bouquet with so little information from me less than 70 mins from ordering! Top marks”
“It's the staff café not kids daycare”
“By far the best Veterinary Hospital I've ever had. The staff are amazing, they are friendly, knowledgeable, even the student that was there at the time with the vet was incredible and so helpful. They were keen to help our dog, to take care of her while she was there and to go above and beyond to make sure she was okay. Our Samoyed loves them and I am so happy to have found this place, they couldn't have chosen better people to be there. I would recommend everyday of the week!”
“My precious, beautiful sweet girl became very ill. The love and care she received from everyone, namely BETH, was just top notch. It was a very scary time, something I don’t wish on anyone and their beloved pet. Richard and his team are just wonderful along with the amazing reception team. Eventually, after what seemed like forever, our sweet princess got better and she’s back to normal, albeit a little extra precious”
“Wentto register at doctor's hopeless so went down to chemist the lovely lady sorted it for me a world of knowledge if you are in need of medicine for sickness awesome felt alot better the next day thanks so much”
“Staff were really accommodating and caring when we had an emergency late afternoon on a Friday, really appreciate then getting us in and looking after our cat after she got into a scrap that left her with multiple injuries.”
“I used to take my cat to Vetcare on Great North Road. I was pleased to find that when that business closed, all my pet's records had been transferred to Auckland Pet Hospital. Recently, my elderly cat's health failed. The staff were super efficient, highly professional, and kind and caring as my cat had reached the point where his life was ending. I am very grateful for the empathy given to me as I shared the last minutes with my cat, which had been my constant companion for so many years. Lots of thanks to Auckland Pet Hospital.”
“Took our puppy in for her first shot, couldn't have been easier..Vet explained what he was giving her and what next stages are required. Very friendly team. Even provide an afterpay service if required for easier payment options. 24hrs emegency service details are available.”
“Dr Jack Roche gave me and my little dog Pickle the greatest friendly care and respect. She had a very bad ear infection and allergy issues. He gave detailed information, gave options and treated both my son and I and dog sensitively and professionally and had a lot of knowledge to share and patience. Thank you very much.”
“Great vets and super helpful staff”
“The most amazing care and attention I have ever received!! The entire staff, starting from the kind and friendly receptionist, the nurses who prepared me for surgery, the anaesthetist who was comforting and funny, the surgeon who is extremely talented, and the after care nurses who were so kind and helpful and informative, helped me with my recovery in ways that I am so grateful for!! I will forever be grateful that my surgery was outsourced to Franklin Hospital. I absolutely will always recommend this hospital. Thank you, to every single person who cared for me. I will never forget the quality of care provided. A special mention for two of my nurses, Helen and Jamie. Thank you both so much, the level of care you provided for me made me comfortable and enabled me to focus on healing and mobilising. I appreciate you both!!”
“I cannot thank Vet Andrea and the team at Park Hill clinic for the outstanding care, kindness and compassion shown to me and my faithful little mate Moki last week. They ensured that he crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully and were so very kind to me. Well done team.”
“They took such great care of our special foster pup when he was in for his desexing. Talked through the extra risks (with his existing health conditions) and were so reassuring. Definitely recommended!!”

“Manly Vet Hospital provided a really nice and smooth experience. They were quick to schedule an appointment for the dog I brought in, and it wasn’t busy at all, which made the process very efficient. Their visit price was reasonable and not overly expensive. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend them!”
“My wife had surgery here and it was amazing. Highly recommend! Staff an facility were absolutely phenomenal!”
“The staff are so lovely and experienced. My dog Taz had a day stay recently and the vet, Susan, explained everything to me and was so thorough. The nurses also were so lovely and caring and gave him a head and ear massage which he absolutely loved and it made me feel so happy that he was so well looked after and spoilt. It gave me peace of mind when leaving him in their care. Thank you for all that you do! Hanna and Taz :)”
“Nobody wants to go to a hospital at all, let alone for a surgical procedure, right? I've had to be panel-beaten from time to time and that's ranged across private and public care systems. Without any exception, the best care I ever got was at Ormiston. Why? Lots of reasons, but here's a few: Yes, they're in business to make a buck, but that's never in your face (Wellington Southern Cross, listen and learn). Staff are available, patient, and no matter how many times they've seen you or conditions like yours they're really engaged. They've not lost sight of the fact that the patient is first and foremost - human. Not an interesting collection of symptoms. I've seen my cat get better empathy at the vet than I got at a surgical procedure at Middlemore. (I excuse the A&E there who are marvellous) The facilities are quiet, clean, and you have a sense of privacy while experiencing what can be intimate or uncomfortable procedures. Aside from reception, and the recovery area, I never saw or heard another patient, or the consultation going on around them. No matter who came to see me - from specialists through to various nurses etc, everyone knocked before entering my space. It's a small thing, but it tells of respect. They were polite, but friendly - not that plastic airline/hotel politeness either. Everyone made strenuous efforts to ensure I knew what was going on, what the sequence of events would be and what to expect, and who to talk to if I wanted anything whatsoever. If you have any choice about where to go, I suggest Ormiston should be high on your list. If you or anyone is going there - as I said - nobody wants to go to hospital - but you might get comfort from knowing you're likely to be getting truly high standards of engagement and care.”
