   Kind, friendly, pragmatic and efficient care of my unwell cat. I would happily recommend them (we drive nearly half an hour to them, we find them that good!). Updating my review to say that we come here often (thanks to having a small cat who seems to be single handedly trying to put the neighbourhood bully in its place) and all the staff are really lovely and knowledgeable. We really appreciate the great service we get.

   I had a really bad experience at Orewa Vet Hospital. My dog was booked in to have a small growth removed on her front left paw (2 stitches). When I collected her, the surgery had been incorrectly done on the right back leg (where she had a cyst that had been there for years and was being monitored - 7 stitches). When I collected her and mentioned the incorrect surgery was done, the vets response was "the surgical notes weren't very clear so I looked for a lump and found this one - she would have had to have it removed anyway". I would assume a phone call to the owner to confirm the correct surgery would have been more appropriate. Next, the receptionist asked me to pay. There was no apology, no remorse and no checking up on my pet after the incident. They simply don't care. The vet agreed to remove the correct growth at no cost, but of course I was very anxious about this. When I dropped my dog off for the second surgery the admission form still said "removal of lump". No specifics - again! Clearly they had not addressed the issue of unclear clinical notes which led to the incorrect surgery in the first place. Poor patient and client care, poor communication, poor procedural quality and safety, no reflection on incidents which could have been avoided and used to improve clinical practice. Just a bad experience which could have been easily avoided by a simple phone call. Also, an apology would have been nice, and a check up after the incident.

   I rang and booked in a lap spay for my dog, only to be called back 2 weeks later and told that they can't do it after all. I've lost a deposit on accommodation and have to wait 2 months for the next available vet that can do the (time sensitive) procedure. A real shame, they were nice and friendly on the phone. But this is pretty unprofessional and frustrating.

   Sarah and the team at Orewa Vet Hospital are spectacular! Words cannot describe how grateful my family and I are to have them as our local vet for many years. Most recently they helped us through a very difficult time with our beloved cat, showing incredible empathy, kindness, and expertise. Highly recommend their services :)
