“Thoroughly enjoyed my stay recently. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Location is a good walk from the shops but super close to the beach and on the whole quite peaceful. Kitchen set up was ideal for my purposes. Parking was also fine. Would definitely recommend and stay again if I'm ever back in the area”

“Look by any means this place is not super flash but I think it’s seriously good value. I stayed for 2 nights at $160 a night in the run up to Xmas. Great location, great price and a great big room with a super comfy bed. Also used the pool which was all ok. Remember to take your room towel as the day I was there none were provided. Lastly check in and staff were all good. Remember people it’s $160 NZD for a massive room in the middle of the city.”

“Apartment was good, but a little dated. But the plus side, it had everything. For 9 nights it was a home away from home, with the residents being nice, the staff being amazing, and the facilities top notch, having a pool and gym. Laundry services in the apartment and the ability to cook simple items in your room. Located perfectly to make escaping Auckland city incredibly easy when you wish. Would definitely recommend.”

    Novotel Auckland Ellerslie

    ★★★★☆ 4.1
    Open

“I stayed for two nights while delivering an event nearby and chose this hotel for its convenient location near the rail station—just outside the city but easy to access. The room was comfortable, the bed very nice, and the overall space well-kept. The property is a combined Novotel and ibis, offering a range of facilities. I also appreciated the separate café area apart from the main restaurant—an excellent spot to relax or work between commitments. Breakfast offered a good variety, and dinners were tasty, though a little on the pricey and smaller side. On Saturday night, the hotel offered a $69 NZD buffet, though I opted for the à la carte menu. The staff were genuinely lovely, and their warmth really made the stay. Overall, a comfortable and friendly stay in a convenient location—with a bit more focus on member recognition, it could be excellent.”

The staff provided exceptional service and always with a smile and I would like to put their names in lights.... Calen Dylan Ben Conner Willow Avineet Martyn.....Wonderful recommendation on Mad Pot. “Rhian Lang, the on-site manager is super helpful, someone who goes an extra mile. The team is very thorough with their check in process. The park although well-located right in front of the shore, it's a pretty 'packed' as they try to squeeze for more occupancy. Very little space allowed in between parking lots hence less privacy.”

“A wonderful hotel, friendly and with very efficient staff. Well appointed and a great selection of rooms, and it is so so quiet at night.... And a bonus is the cafe, bar, restaurant off the lobby and too the gym. And a further bonus is its location across a small reserve to the Spark Arena, and a short stroll to Queen Street. And it comes with a carpark for guests downstairs!! AWESOME!!”

“This is a great overall hotel. The service is wonderful, staff friendly , it’s clean and the rooms are nice. The highlight for me was how efficient the aircon was and also how beautiful the lobby/restaurant area. I had breakfast here 3 mornings and the food was very decent. Location is good. Very central and very close to everything in Auckland CBD. The only downside for me is that there is no pool.”

“Lovely, simple place to spend a night or two! It's travelers but also permanent residents here. We had a light flight and had to drive with our camper van from Auckland and wouldn't make it before closing. We called them up and were told it wasn't a problem we would be a bit later, WICKED! We arrived and were warmly greeted by one of the owners, Maxine, who friendly enough gave us a few shower tokens for free. Her husband Roy would come by later to give us our change and stayed to help out with some Q's we might have about our transportation. Turned out he built the things for over 50 years! We had a good chat and then had a pleasant slumber. To be awoken the next morning by chirping birds, lovely! Was our first evening in NZ, was a lovely start to our holiday being greeted and treated so kindly, thank you guys! ”

    The Edgerley Suites

    ★★★★☆ 4.1
    Open

“The Edgerley Suites was literally my 'home away from home' for several months this year, and I loved it. I stayed full-time long-term for more than 5 months, and then was a part-time casual guest for about two months after that, as I went through a bit of a life transition. I did my research before I first checked in back in March, and looked at all the other comparable serviced apartment options in the Epsom / Newmarket area, and The Edgerley Suites was by far the best option. The location is excellent - walking distance to everything Broadway / Newmarket has to offer, including the massive Westfield Mall (biggest in NZ?) which has everything you could possibly need, and open late - not to mention many restaurant options in its famous "rooftop dining" space even after the shops are closed. And there's even a Post Office just at the end of the road - a rare thing these days, not to mention a dry cleaners and pretty much everything. Plus it's right between the motorway on- and off-ramps for very easy access to the motorways in all directions. For me, the convenience of just being able to walk in with a suitcase of clothes and everything was there ready to go was exactly what I needed. All units are fully furnished and equipped (including full size fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, hair drier, iron and ironing board, cutlery and crockery and most of the cookware you'll need, etc.). Far better than a hotel and way cheaper (especially for long-term stays where the price gets cheaper). I'm surprised at the reviews suggesting it's overpriced - I found it was good value for what you get, compared to the other options in the area. I'm also surprised at the reviews that question the cleanliness - that wasn't my experience at all, and I stayed in several different apartments (or "rooms") during my 7 months - one for the long-term stay but several others for the shorter stints. The cleaners will come every day if you want, like a hotel, and I found they generally did a good job. The bedding and towels were always fresh and clean (and smelling slightly of bleach so you know they've been cleaned well), and they make the beds to a top hotel standard. In 7 months I never really had cause to complain, but if ever I found something that needed attention - the excellent, and friendly staff, always attended to it right away, I never had to ask twice. The front desk / reception team were lovely, and very accommodating. And as others have said the building itself and facilities are good - sure there's no pool or gym etc. (if there were the prices would be higher), but the secure parking was great, and there are two lifts not one like some places, I never saw them out of action, and the building is only about 7 years old so up to all the current standards and regulations. Yes, in one apartment there was an issue with the pressure regulator on the hot water cylinder (common in apartments), so they put me in another room while that was fixed, then next time I went into that room sure enough it was fixed. I know they get a lot of regular and repeat guests (and I wasn't the only long-term guest while I was there), so it can't be as bad as some reviews suggest? I would happily stay there again if the need arose - and have referred colleagues and clients to them. I suggest if put off by some of the negative reviews (remember, there's a lot of competition in the area, are all those reviews legitimate?), then contact them for an "inspection" of a couple of rooms before committing, they're happy to do that. If coming from out of town, I'm sure they'd arrange a "video walk around" to see almost as good as in person. Yes some rooms have a better outlook than others - like nice quiet serene bush, or north facing for the sun but looking towards the mall and motorway flyover - but just tell them your preference and they'll try to accommodate. (the motorway was never a problem, can't hear it thru the double glazing). I was happy there for several months - so I can't see how anybody wouldn't be for just a week or a weekend!”

    HIT Hostel

“I will try to leave the most honest opinion possible for future travelers. after having stayed in many hostels in Auckland Hit Hostel is definitely the hostel where I felt the best.. There are inevitably things that can be unpleasant like the fact of not having windows in the rooms, but the spaces common areas completely fill this gap because they make us feel like we are in a large shared accommodation/ Flat where it is easy to meet people because it is a small hostel. the staff and the types of travelers who stay there are great. The staff do their utmost to keep the place clean even if unfortunately the cleanliness of a hostel also depends on the cleanliness of the travelers staying there at a given time and these are factors that we cannot control.. In any case price/quality ratio Hit hostel is the best you can find.”

She is an excellent travel agent that knows her stuff and she has booked us some amazing holidays and tailored them to our needs as a family. “Hotel receptionist Smitri was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Although we booked through a third-party service and didn’t reserve a parking space, she went out of her way to find one for us. She was polite and empathetic, especially considering our situation traveling with a toddler. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, and the room was clean and well-maintained, the kitchenette is a bunos! Kudos to the housekeeping team as well, the room was still serviced even after 5 PM, which we really appreciated. Would love to book again in the future!”
