The hotel is in a very convenient location, although on a rather steep slope. The room was spacious enough and clean. The TV a joke, not smart, so no internet meaning no Netflix or similar, not even the option to connect ear plugs so one could watch a film without bothering the partner. The breakfast was borderline rediculous. No cold cuts like salami or ham, no cheese, no vegetables at all, a pan cake machine but no chocolate creme, scrambled eggs but no fried eggs or omlett... I strongly suggest that you don't pay for the breakfast but go out somewhere nearby, at least then you get what you paid for. Disappointing.

Location is fantastic, room was standard holiday inn express quality, and the overall experience was decent. They really don't have any parking options and the gym is super small with only light weights (14 kg). The service at the front desk was a bit on the slow side. The check in process was a pain. Not sure why. Had to show the reservation number on my app with my ihg membership

My visit at the Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre was an absolute delight from start to finish. This hotel perfectly combines modern convenience, thoughtful design, and genuine hospitality. First impressions matter, and the charming and very helpful Ethan at the front desk set a wonderful tone. He provided a warm welcome and even took a moment to show us the facilities, including the restaurant area where the excellent included breakfast is served. His attentiveness was a standout feature. The hotel is set in a lovely building that offers many rooms outstanding views of the city skyline, with some looking right out towards the harbourβ€”a fantastic bonus to wake up to! The room was a pleasant surprise: spacious, clean, and modern, defying the sometimes-compact reputation of the brand. A particularly thoughtful touch was the practical pillow selection menu, allowing you to choose your preferred type for a perfect night's sleep. It’s these small details that make a big difference. The overall vibe here is great, warm, and welcoming. Coupled with a very convenient location in the city centre, it makes for an ideal base for exploring Auckland. In summary, this hotel delivers exceptional value. It’s a clean, well-designed, and comfortably practical hotel, powered by a truly great front office team. I would not hesitate to return. Thank you for a wonderful and refreshing experience!

This hotel met every need perfectly! The room was nice, with a bathroom that was very space efficient. The breakfast buffet had many options, including a variety of dairy and non-dairy, milks, pastries, warm, basic continental food, and cereal! The rooms were quiet, and the location was superb. It was close to everything we wanted to do, including the waterfront, nightlife, local theater, and transportation! Ding dong is right across the street! And lots of grocery stores near by!

We stayed here from Sept 16th to Sept 24th 2025. Our room was 715. Room was tidy, clean and suitable for two ppl. Had a view of Sky Tower. Gym was fantastic with new machines and free weights. Breakfast buffet was fabulous with fresh fruit, pancakes you can make. There's an assortment of juices, hot drinks, cereals, yoghurt, pastries and bread. Hot options are hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans. You will not go hungry :) The staff are friendly. Received a personalised welcome card with biscotti :) Highly recommended

I stayed in a king bed standard room on the 17th floor. Unfortunately, the negative aspects outweighed the positive aspects. I wouldn't stay here again. Pros: * New hotel, so a modern fitout. * Central location. * Very friendly staff at check-in. * Clean room. * Comfortable bed. * 50" TV with Chromecast. * Breakfast is included. Cons: * The in-room heating/AC controls didn't seem to work. I couldn't get the room to remain at a comfortable temperature during my two-night stay (most of the time the room was cold). * I got cold at night - the bed had an extremely thin duvet and no extra blankets were available. * There was no water pressure in the shower - the water literally came out at a trickle. * The "work desk" in the room was a small coffee table that was too low to work comfortably on my laptop. * On both mornings, the "hot" breakfast options (eggs, bacon, sausages) were either lukewarm or cold.

Rooms are best shared only by partners or couples since the hotel used translucent but still see-through glass for division between the shower area and the sleeping area. Quite a β€œshow”. Staff was friendly except for one Front Desk Pinay (unfortunately) who displayed an unpleasant β€œattitude”.

This is a business hotel and it has just what I needed for a quick trip to Auckland. Just the right amenities such as iron and good internet. Room was very clean and warm. I was also surprised that breakfast is included. For the price you pay in cbd this is really good value. Will stay again.

A very good budget hotel that extremely..... and I say EXTREMELY comfortable. One of the most weird but ingenious bathrooms I have ever seen. Clean, fresh, tidy. Lovely cafe restaurant, and great that breakfast is included.
