Actually, I just used the bbq picnic area near the park and it was amazing for my little people, very safe and lots of room to run. It's not fenced though, so have to keep an eye on your runners. Dogs are allowed here and it's not overly crowded like many south Auckland places. 10/10

It was an amazing journey to spend my holiday here. The environment is peaceful and relaxing, and I truly enjoyed my time in this quiet little town. Special thanks to site manager Vin, who was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. His warm hospitality made the experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful holiday in waiuku.

I called in and asked for an unpowered campsite for the night, but apparently the new owners were just in the middle of renovations which is why they asked if they could put me in a cabin instead for $50 the night (there was some work in the kitchen and toilet area to be done and some other campers were using them). I agreed and found that they tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible even though the cabin was just a bed and empty cupboards at that time. They brought me some coffee, milk and shampoo to improve my stay and a electric pan so I’d be able to cook. I’d definitely say that it will be a nice campsite to stay, even for a longer time, as soon as the renovations are done, the owners certainly try their best :)

We were camping there as a group. The workers that settled us in were really supportive, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Eg - provided scooters and bikes for the children to play with. There were a few changes that we made and the workers got onto it straight away, very accommodating. They provided us with what we needed and more. Nearby beach and park that children enjoyed. Highly recommend this place, and will use it again.

DO NOT STAY!!!!! WE FEARED FOR OUR LIVES! We were physically and verbally abused from a permanent resident from 1am-4am. Approaching our van- looking in through our curtains shouting and swearing "I can see you, your eyes are like cameras, I can see you" and saying "I will get into your van and hurt you" we were so petrified we were frozen still for hours! Too scared to even lift our phones with the risk of him seeing the light. The man then picked up rocks and threw them at our vans. Once the clearly unstable gentlemen went back into his room at 4am, we quickly got in the driving seat and drove away to the waterfront. We have never stayed (and paid) somewhere and felt so threatened. This is clearly a site for permanent residents rather than campers, and they will NOT take kindly to you staying there. Honestly, please do not stay here, I would hate for ANYONE to experience what we experienced. We have called the police to report this. Once we had left, we called the sit manager to inform him of what happened and he was SO apologetic on the phone and said we could have a refund.... 5 days later... after 5 phone calls and emails and texts, i havent heard a single thing from him. This is totally infuriating as we didnt want to disturb him and his family at 4am to request a refund as we saw he had young children, so we left it until a reasonable time at 10am. He has now failed to get in contact with me and clearly is not giving a refund. Please- if you have children, or are young yourself, please avoid this place. There are lots of permanent residents here who clearly have drug and alcohol problems (as we could see the litter around the camp.... I need not say any more)

AVOID!! Very unprofessional staff, almost left stranded with nowhere to stay despite making a booking days in advance. Unfortunately not much choice for accommodation in Waiuku but I would strongly recommend finding somewhere else if you can.

Best. Shower. Ever! At first glance it looks run down, but as soon you turn on the shower and that heavenly beam of hot water massages you like hands of thousand angels, you feel like in Niagara paradise!

Good for cyclist. Good green, bench and table with a roof, good kitchen. Restroom is a bit older, but OK. Quiet in the night I sleeped well. Supermarket not far 3km. 25 dollar one night, one person and a little tent is for a cyclist not cheap.

This is a lovely place to go to if you need a place to go to get away from the rat race. New management are in the process of upgrading the facilities and doing a wonderful job. Very family friendly with a wonderful park between the campground and the beach. Give the new management your support. They accommodate mobile homes, caravans and provide cabins. Dogs and children will enjoy the environment. Good luck to the new management in their endeavors to update the camp grounds.
