There was a lady named Judy who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“I cannot recommend Playful Paws enough! My dog loves going there and I know that she is well looked after. Its wonderful to have a safe place for my dog when we go away and also for daycare. In fact, we have just got two cats and they will go to the cattery when we go away. I find the communication is excellent and they are always happy to help. “Stunning hotel, that sits beside the lake for those that like going for walks or runs in nature, this is for you. They do have a gym and spa on-site though for those that don't want to leave the hotel. I have stayed here 3 times over the year and each room I have gotten, have always been very clean and have been stocked with everything I could of needed. The staff here from reception to the restaurant as well as the housekeepers are so Incredibly lovely. I highly recommend this place!”

“I have used many catteries over the years (30) ,but Brenda's Hotel Kitty truly stands out.The quality of service here is exceptional _ Brenda goes the extra mile to ensure every cat is cared for with kindness and professionalism....That care also extends to the cat owner!! The rural setting is tranquil and relaxing ,it's clear Brenda is clearly genuinely passionate about what she does. My normally timid cat is always happy and relaxed after her stay and I am treated to photographs which show me my cat is enjoying her stay and is very settled .This establishment gives the owner peace of mind knowing. top notch level of care is provided.Brenda is a true cat person and outstanding business proprietor. I never worry now when I have to leave my cay . I highly recommend.”

Even though it was next to the airport, I didn’t hear a single plane. Carpark right outside the room which made for easy unpacking and packing up. Would highly recommend.”

“First Time Stay – Excellent Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic stay here! The location is perfect—right in the heart of Hamilton, with cafes, the river, and everything you need just a short walk away. The room was spacious, clean, and had all the essentials. The kitchenette was a nice touch for quick meals, and the bed was incredibly comfy with blackout curtains, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The air conditioning was just right for winter as well. The highlight of my stay, though, was the amazing Housekeeping staff. They were warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Also, the added bonus of free access to Les Mills was fantastic while traveling! The staff at Reception—Tony and Jackie—were especially accommodating. Jackie even checked my arrival time and car park needs ahead of time. Everything just felt easy, comfortable, and stress-free. I’d definitely stay again! Highly recommend.”

“Great place I say. Nice and quiet, the pools are quintessential kiwi, 3 temperatures so something for everone, but the building has lots of history to it and gorgeous. The BLT was top draw for a lunch and we'll presented. Staff were polite and professional. 5 stars from us.”

I have to say I'll come back again and recommend this hotel to family and friends”

“Absolutely loved our time at the hot spring pool! The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The 80s music playing in the background added a fun and nostalgic touch to the experience. What stood out was the careful water maintenance – minimal chlorine and sulfur smell, making the soaking truly relaxing. The different pool temperatures catered to all our preferences, and the large pool with the little cannon-like side was a hit with our boys. The real stars of the show were the waterslides – the fastest and longest in NZ, and they didn't disappoint! The rush of the "Kamikaze" slide and the excitement of the longest slide were beyond words. You can adjust the speed, if it gets too fast for you. We were trying to get it all from the slides, hence the speed fraction bruises here and there ;) but the bum-sliding challenge worth it (I won!!!) The only hiccup was the ice-cold shower, which felt more like a challenge, especially on a dark winter evening after enjoying the hot pools. But in a way, it added to the adventure! The bonus of having playgrounds, an aviary with peacocks, parrots, and doves, as well as free-range funky chickens, gave the place a unique charm. As a family with three boys, we had over five hours of non-stop fun. If you're looking for a great time, this hot spring pool is a definite winner. We're already planning our next visit!”

“Stayed 2 nights. I spent many nights in this hotel in the early 2000s. The character hasn't changed, it is old world delightful. The room was clean and well serviced. This was a nostalgic stay for me but I am really happy I chose the "La Grand". It is incredibly good value for money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.”

“My room was really well appointed, with everything I could possibly need for a one night stay. I loved the extra little touch of the Christmas card and treats. Just one recommendation - replace the terry-cloth bathmats with non-slip bathmats, as my bathmat slipped out from under me when I was stepping out of the shower, and I had a little fall. But otherwise, everything was great and the price was such good value, so I would happily return.”
