   Location got a 5 because it was out of the way, but still close enough to get to hobbiton in 20 minutes or less. Great amenities, need at least 2 days to fully appreciate. Sue and Neil were super hosts

   It's remote but that's part of the charm. Rooms were great but bedroom is a bit small... Plenty of amenities and full kitchen. WiFi was dicey in the cottage, but quite good in the house. Great breakfast too.

   Villa Walton has luxurious, comfortable rooms and great food. But best of all the host Sue is a kind and caring person. My husband and I had travel difficulties and Sue went out of her way to help us. She made all the difference to our holiday. Thank you Sue.

   Favorite place we’ve stayed…ever? I can’t recommend the Villa Walton enough. It’s so beautiful and well looked after, the gardens are stunning. We stayed in the cottage and had everything we wanted, the secluded outdoor tub was lovely! The food was amazing. I think I ate more breakfast here than I have in my entire life. My wife and I have dietary restrictions and Sue + Neil were extremely accommodating and thoughtful. Everything was delicious and I wish we stayed longer! We’ll definitely be back for another slice of heaven!

   Our stay was short but unforgettable at Villa Walton thanks to the love and attention to the details from Sue and Neil. Incredibly beautiful cottage in such an amazing environment as the Matamata area is. We arrived quite late but the check in happened in a quite expedite way thanks to the kindness and flexibility of our hosts, who had everything ready for us and gave us some restaurant recommendations in Matamata. The cottage is like a dream and so the room. Clean, beautiful, warm…We felt entirely at home. The early breakfast (first breakfast, for hobbits like us), handmade by Sue was simply amazing and put us in the right energy level and mood to visit Hobbiton afterwards and keep at our best almost till dinner!. But, above all, it’s the kindness and love distilled by Sue and Neil which made our short stay experience at Villa Walton memorable. Thanks dear hosts for your warmth of heart and professionalism. For those planning to visit New Zealand, a stay at Villa Walton should be a must. Thanks so much and looking forward to visiting you again soon!. Joaq

   AMAZING HOTEL !!! Beautiful garden and comfortable bedrooms paying attention to EVERY single detail. Everything extremly clean. Charming owners. Also super good and delicious breakfast We have been in different hotels in Australia and NZ during the last weeks and this has been THE BEST with difference ! It is a pity that we are to stay only one night ! Really good hotel. Highly recommended !

   Just stayed over at this amazing 5 star B&B in Matamata region of NZ north island and cannot recommend it highly enough. Neil and Sue are the perfect hosts as well as being top chefs. Hubby and I felt very pampered so if you are looking for a piece of paradise tucked away in a tranquil, beautifully appointed period cottage with amazing gardens the Villa Walton is it!!    My husband and I stayed two nights during our honeymoon in NZ. Villa Walton was a highlight due to the friendliness and welcoming nature of the owners; the beautiful gardens; and the delicious cooked breakfasts. One of our favourite dinners during our trip was at Villa Walton; for $65 pp we had a lovely 2-course dinner of lamb rack and roast vegetables, and an amazing chocolate/raspberry brownie. We've never had such perfectly cooked lamb, we really recommend it! Another couple there at the same time noted that they regretted only staying one night, and we were glad we had booked two nights.

   The Villa Walton! Where to begin! Neil and Sue, wow! The accommodation is breathtaking, the gardens are beautiful but it actually comes down to you two (Ted and Jimmy top of course). You guys make this place absolutely incredible, the details, the food, the thoughtfulness, just everything. It’s perfect! Tara and I had such a special and beautiful stay, getting wedding ready and being able to share that with family and friends. We ALL loved The Villa Walton. We truly couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! If you are looking for a place to stay and unwind, get wedding ready, or just indulge.. look no further The Villa Walton is the dream! Neil and Sue, thank you for everything! We truly couldn’t be happier! (I’ll add photos as soon as I have them) You guys are the best!!
