   What an absolutely fabulous place! After spending a few hours at the Hobbiton Movie Set, we were looking for somewhere nearby to stay the night. I came across Mia and Michael’s place—and wow, are we ever glad we did! The location is perfect: set beside peaceful farmland yet just an easy 20-minute walk into Matamata. It’s the thoughtful touches that make Walnut Lodge truly special. We were warmly greeted by Michael upon arrival, and shortly after, Mia dropped by with a beautiful breakfast basket filled with cereals, granola, homemade bread, jams, and nut butters. We appreciated being able to pop what we needed into the fridge for the next morning. The little extras made all the difference. The bed was incredibly comfortable—possibly even more so than our own at home—and the bedding was just lovely. Every detail had been considered: luggage racks, handy hooks, bathroom amenities, and high-quality local New Zealand toiletries. Mia and Michael have such an eye for comfort and hospitality. We only wish every host had the same thoughtful touch. Thank you both for an amazing stay!

   Wonderful, restful accommodation in a beautiful region, close to Hobbitton and Matamata. European styled, separate, clean, well appointed suites with a lovely breakfast basket. We stopped here while cycling south on the Tour Aotearoa and enjoyed two peaceful, restful days thanks to our excellent hosts.

   This was our 7th accommodation place on our New Zealand holiday across both the south and north island, hands down the best. No contest. Everything had been thought of and was provided at a high quality. It was like staying in a good friend's house rather than a hotel. Even the included breakfast was great, it included home made bread! We'd recommend this to anyone and would love to come back.

   We felt completely at home during our 3 night stay. Everything was perfect - from the cleanliness of the rooms to the quality of the breakfast. The farm's beauty and lovely Hunter (the small dog in the pictures) added to the perfection of our trip. The hosts, Mia and Michael, were incredibly nice and friendly. You can feel they love their job. If you're looking for a place to stay in Matamata, their place is one of the best. Thanks again Mia and Michael! Cheers!

   Wonderful! Peaceful and lovely. I wish we had stayed here first and stayed longer. It is one of my favorite place to stay in NZ. The lady, Mia, who is the owner, is charming and just the sweetest lady. She also provides a breakfast tray that includes a small loaf of bread, homemade, cereals, fresh fruit, butter, vegemite and Maramite, nust butter, along with cookies, and the mini fridge has milk, juice, and 2 types of preserves. There is tea and coffee for you to make as well. She makes the bread and cookies her self. Her family owns the farm the B&B is on. This is a very clean and home like feel to it. Very welcoming. My husband and I highly recommend staying here. It has all the necessities you need on a trip, at least all that we needed. The gardens are beautiful as well. Town is 5 minutes away for dining. It's 20 minutes from Hobbiton. There is a bush walk to Wairere falls 25 minutes away.

   A slice of heaven in the farmlands! The host dropped off an amazing continental breakfast the evening before!Top of the line quality bed, bathroom, linens, and cleanliness was incredible! Super cozy with around 3 acres for kids to run around in. The sound of beautiful birds was heard everywhere. We would definitely do all over again if we could!
