“We visited in March of this year. The owner and his wife are in the silver age of leisure. I was treated to wine and talked for about 3 hours in the garden. lovely evening. It seems that the husband often came to Japan because of dairy products. It is difficult to take care of the vast garden you are proud of by yourself. There are actually 2 guest rooms. This is the bedroom only. The kitchen and living room are shared with the owner. So I wonder if self-catering is a little inconvenient. Breakfast was prepared by Madam. I was able to catch a glimpse of the ideal retirement life that I should envy.”

The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with sidewalks for a pleasant stroll. Chris is awesome, going the extra mile to make us feel at home. She was very responsive and kind. We appreciate the ability to cook a few dishes, the convenient location and definitely miss the nice hot tub!”

If you are looking for a house full of period character features and a quiet getaway, I would highly recommend Oak Lane Lodge. Sue and Gary were fantastic hosts and could not spoil us enough. The food was outstanding, the rooms and bathrooms clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable. We would def be visie again!”

“What a truly lovely place to stay for our extended family's vacation! The old Farmhouse has been excellently up-dated, but with the old hardware and architectural details that make it unique and special. We have farm backgrounds, so having the sheep, chickens and horses nearby was an added blessing. The house was very well cared for with comfortable beds. We chose it for its central location to visit Hamilton Gardens, Cathedral Cove, the Spellbound Glowworm Caves, Maori Cultural Experience, the Redwood Forest Tree walk, Hobbiton Movie set, and Lake Taupo Maori Carvings Sailboat cruise. Each day we were able to set out on a different adventure and still come back to a comfortable place in the evening. We cannot imagine a better place to stay!”
