“Great experience staying at this hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We had come to Hamilton for my mums medical appointment. There was a lady named Judy who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“Stunning hotel, that sits beside the lake for those that like going for walks or runs in nature, this is for you. They do have a gym and spa on-site though for those that don't want to leave the hotel. I have stayed here 3 times over the year and each room I have gotten, have always been very clean and have been stocked with everything I could of needed. The staff here from reception to the restaurant as well as the housekeepers are so Incredibly lovely. I highly recommend this place!”

“I would highly recommend this hotel! Lovely service, super clean rooms, lovely crisp hotel sheets and perfectly adequate bathroom. Breakfast buffet was awesome! Even though it was next to the airport, I didn’t hear a single plane. Carpark right outside the room which made for easy unpacking and packing up. Would highly recommend.”

“First Time Stay – Excellent Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic stay here! The location is perfect—right in the heart of Hamilton, with cafes, the river, and everything you need just a short walk away. The room was spacious, clean, and had all the essentials. The kitchenette was a nice touch for quick meals, and the bed was incredibly comfy with blackout curtains, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The air conditioning was just right for winter as well. The highlight of my stay, though, was the amazing Housekeeping staff. They were warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Also, the added bonus of free access to Les Mills was fantastic while traveling! The staff at Reception—Tony and Jackie—were especially accommodating. Jackie even checked my arrival time and car park needs ahead of time. Everything just felt easy, comfortable, and stress-free. I’d definitely stay again! Highly recommend.”

“Great place I say. Nice and quiet, the pools are quintessential kiwi, 3 temperatures so something for everone, but the building has lots of history to it and gorgeous. The BLT was top draw for a lunch and we'll presented. Staff were polite and professional. 5 stars from us.”

“Absolutely loved our time at the hot spring pool! The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The 80s music playing in the background added a fun and nostalgic touch to the experience. What stood out was the careful water maintenance – minimal chlorine and sulfur smell, making the soaking truly relaxing. The different pool temperatures catered to all our preferences, and the large pool with the little cannon-like side was a hit with our boys. The real stars of the show were the waterslides – the fastest and longest in NZ, and they didn't disappoint! The rush of the "Kamikaze" slide and the excitement of the longest slide were beyond words. You can adjust the speed, if it gets too fast for you. We were trying to get it all from the slides, hence the speed fraction bruises here and there ;) but the bum-sliding challenge worth it (I won!!!) The only hiccup was the ice-cold shower, which felt more like a challenge, especially on a dark winter evening after enjoying the hot pools. But in a way, it added to the adventure! The bonus of having playgrounds, an aviary with peacocks, parrots, and doves, as well as free-range funky chickens, gave the place a unique charm. As a family with three boys, we had over five hours of non-stop fun. If you're looking for a great time, this hot spring pool is a definite winner. We're already planning our next visit!”

“Stayed 2 nights. I spent many nights in this hotel in the early 2000s. The character hasn't changed, it is old world delightful. The room was clean and well serviced. This was a nostalgic stay for me but I am really happy I chose the "La Grand". It is incredibly good value for money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.”

“My room was really well appointed, with everything I could possibly need for a one night stay. I loved the extra little touch of the Christmas card and treats. Just one recommendation - replace the terry-cloth bathmats with non-slip bathmats, as my bathmat slipped out from under me when I was stepping out of the shower, and I had a little fall. But otherwise, everything was great and the price was such good value, so I would happily return.”

“Amazing stay at the lodge! The location is very close to town (5 min) and to Hobbiton (15 min). The studio was clean, comfortable and relaxing. My friend and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed all the goodies and breakfast provided daily. Mark even packed us a to go breakfast for our early departure. Everything was delicious. Mark and Glenn are great hosts and have a beautiful farm with stunning views and farm animals you can feed/pet. Highly recommended and would definitely return again. “Everything about this place is what we think "First-Class". The friendliness of the owners, the 110% cleanliness, the many little extras that have been built in to this amazing space is incredible. Plenty of sensor lighting to help with our late night arrival. The mats in the bathroom!!! - never seen this sort of thing previously but after a full night of dancing, to put our feet on these mats relieved the tired and sore spots - they are INCREDIBLE. Such a comfortable bed - we are very happy to have found Denchy's - thank you Linda & Selena - beautiful place to stay - real luxury for us - tho it's small, it's very adequate for our needs along with such a caring environment.”
