“Had a wonderful meal here at Joyful Chinese Restaurant. The staff were attentive and provided excellent service, and the dining area is well kept and comfortable. The menu had a large range of choice and we found the food to be authentic and really tasty. In particular, our vegetable dishes were superb, perfectly cooked, not oily, nicely seasoned and beautifully presented. The restaurant has been going for 27 years. It was really great to talk with the owners, who are friendly and take great pride in their service to customers and the food they serve. I recommend the tasty food at Joyful Chinese Restaurant.”

“I can only rate the bar and the meal, as we didn't stay at their accommodation. Although the restaurant was closed, we were able to order at the bar. The bar was very busy, but the staff took our order and brought our drinks promptly to us. We both ordered the chicken parmigiana and were very happy with it. The serving size was more than enough, and we felt the wait really wasn't that long at all, especially considering how busy they were. I'd be happy to return again the next time I'm in Auckland.”

“I’ve been going there since 2010. Never had any problems with my food. Always loved their sirloin steak with salad and chips. You get the best meal for a good affordable price.”

“Slightly expensive but food selection & quality is fantastic. Good service, always a lot of staff around. An ideal place for seafood and the large portions are good for big groups. Also a decent place for yum cha. Booking is recommended as it can get busy. Some dishes are excessively salty however.”

“Haven't been here in years was super impressed with everything. Love the layout & different themes for each seated area, such a great idea to uncorporate a Library never seen that in a restaurant before, it adds a lovely homely feel, my favourite would have to be the Whiskey Lounge, the decor makes you feel you've stepped back in time. Food was fantastic had the classic kiwi steak meal cooked to perfection & our host MJ, what a delightful, courteous human. She certainly knows that menu inside out, very precise, certainly don't get fabulous service like that anymore, thank you MJ. Had a very enjoyable & memorable evening, definitely recommend coming here.”

“I was there this afternoon for a quick coffee, but the friendly manager convinced me to have a snack/meal too, seeing as I was clearly eyeing the cabinet food! When I said the meals on the menu looked too big, she offered to make me a half portion, which was very thoughtful. The half portion was not only generous (it looked like a full portion) but also delicious. It was the chicken salad on the lunch menu. Fresh, and well made. The manager also offered me some honey to add to my ginger tea - She could tell my voice was hoarse and throat hurting. I really enjoyed the personalised, warm service. I was also given the wifi password without asking - I'm not sure what else I could ask for in terms of service and food quality! I've always been here for desserts after dinner (I LOVE their cabinet sweets) but this was my first lunch visit and and it was really fulfilling. Definitely coming back here! Cheers”

“Had two of the teppanyaki combo’s with a friend and was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. Definitely think that people may go with a certain perception of teppanyaki, but for the price and service of the experience, I’d definitely say that we enjoyed our time there. The owner was friendly and readily available to answer any questions we had regarding their menu.”

“Went here with the family and it was super delish, ordered the lamb shanks and it was so tender. The sides you help yourself once your recieve your meal and there were good side choices available. Prices are reasonably cheap. Tea and coffee also available”

“Level 3 lockdown, only open for takeaways. Best to ring ahead and order beforehand, so there is minimal wait time. Food was delicious and still piping hot when I got home. They have a mixture of Canton style and North Eastern Chinese dishes on the menu. I would recommend the Homemade Tofu and Mongolian Lamb Chops”

“Authentic Kerala Cuisine! We have been missing that in Auckland and had an amazing experience. The ambience, service and food presentation is amazing. The flavours are aromatic and traditional. Friendly staff and we just felt like eating out in Kerala. Kids are surprised and excited by the Robot. Wanted to try a lot more but the portion size is really filling. Will surely be back to try the rest!”
