“Good value and recommended. There is a variety of units, with the tidy larger suites more suited for a longer stay. The beds are comfortable and the lighting variable depending on unit type. Room service is excellent and the units are kept clean. Bathrooms are good. We liked having a separate toilet. Toiletries, which are of high quality, get replaced daily”

“We stayed overnight for a local event. It is in a good location for local eats, easy access to Hamilton city centre. While dated, everything was in order and clean. The couple who run it were friendly and helpful. Our son noted that it is in an excellent location to go to Waterworld, although we didn't go there on this trip.”

“We had just traveled 7 hours to Auckland to pick up a new caravan and wanted to get as far south before parking up for the night. We stumbled across this place after a Google search in Putaruru. “Stunning hotel, that sits beside the lake for those that like going for walks or runs in nature, this is for you. They do have a gym and spa on-site though for those that don't want to leave the hotel. I have stayed here 3 times over the year and each room I have gotten, have always been very clean and have been stocked with everything I could of needed. The staff here from reception to the restaurant as well as the housekeepers are so Incredibly lovely. I highly recommend this place!”

“We stayed for two nights at the beautiful Awa Retreat, what a lovely place to stay, the hosts Cathy and Murray are so friendly it is like meeting old friends, the apartment is clean and tidy and has all the comforts of home, the breakfasts are beautiful and the wild bird life just outside the property is just delightful. The location right beside the Mighty Waikato River is perfect, a stroll along the walkway was very relaxing and we enjoyed seeing the native trees flourishing in this pretty spot.
