Booked out the Kea motel for family reunion. Positives outweighed the negatives. We're able to pitch up a 3x6 gazebo on the grass across from rooms and connect lighting for evening meals and celebrate to the early hours music blaring(we moved our gazebo next day outside room 4). All had a Brilliant time.Next reunion will be too big to hold here. But grateful to Ronnie for putting up with us. So say we all, Winikerei Whanau.

Musty rooms, stained pillow cases, musty sheets, the room smelled of musty and it was dirty! Location is good and quiet. The shower was so low and needed upgrading. It definitely is not worth any where near the prices!!! Stained toilet, ants everywhere, needs painting! Absolutely disgusting dont stay here with rotting timber, no fan in the bathroom, shocking!!!!

Ronnie the owner is an absolute legend, would give you the shirt off his back. We ran into car troubles just outside of Putāruru and were in a spot of bother. Ronnie took us in for the night while our car was being repaired and went above and beyond for us. My wife and I were traveling with our 1 year old baby and Ronnie made sure we were all safe and warm for the night, He couldn't do enough for us very generous and selfless. The world needs more people like Ronnie in it. Room was perfect for us, warm and clean. Couldn't recommend the Kea Motel and holiday park more, staff are excellent and friendly as can be.

I did not even get to stay here, owner is rude and abrupt on first two conversations, on 3 rd meeting he was abrusive to myself and my parents, we were just looking at the facilities for a long term stay and possible unit users as well. Spoke to cleaner to look around who was very lovely, then he came and abused us, as usual no one at office and last time i rang bell he did not come and speak to me was just very rude. Do not recommend this place, rooms are pretty average, and owner is awful,

We had just traveled 7 hours to Auckland to pick up a new caravan and wanted to get as far south before parking up for the night. We stumbled across this place after a Google search in Putaruru. What a life saver. Cash in the key return box, a powered site for the caravan and we were set for the night and a well earned sleep, before driving the rest of the way home the following day. Thank you Kea!

Probably one of the most unpleasant stay I've experienced. The room reeks and the staff is rude as. They can't even be professional. Paid 300nzd a night and we can't even swim in their pools because it is filthy. Wouldn't recommend. Use this accomodation as your last resort. Most Airbnbs would've been better.

Super friendly owner. Great room setup ie kitchenette (tea coffee milk soap and towels).Very clean and tidy. Great shower pressure. Comfy bed. Little frills but even had even outdoor furniture. Did not look much but was better than most much higher cost accom. Had a great night's sleep. A little jem

Putaruru is a handy stopover for travel between Auckland and Wellington or Hawkes Bay, and although this is an old motel, it is well located for being far enough back from the main highway that the trucks thundering by aren't too disturbing, and it's great that the Countdown supermarket is just up the opposite side of the road. We are always looking for a separate bedroom, which is becoming expensive, and this motel is an old but affordable option. We had unit 3, and found it OK, a bit of wall damage in the bathroom and shower unit, paintwork a bit worn in places, but overall the unit looks as if it has been recently re-painted, and was well aired. The rear windows were fully open when we arrived. The unusually small kitchen has a full stove, which is becoming rare these days. The bathroom area is also a bit cramped, but overall, the unit is not gloomy or pokey, as it has lots of windows. Most importantly, the beds are OK.

The outside appearance should have put us off. We paid $300 for 2 nights. The room was less than basic. Not as clean as it should or could have been,. No room service or change of towels. Which for the price we expected, hav ing paid less money, in other motels, and way better facilities and service. We won't recommend or be back to this motel.
