    Travel Islands Tours

“Revisiting New Zealand after thirty years, I embarked on a journey I'd always cherished with the help of Lim Dong-ik, CEO of Island Travel. From the very first day of our trip to the very last, our trip was enriched by a well-planned itinerary, high-quality accommodations, exquisitely prepared meals, and meticulous attention to detail and hospitality. Furthermore, the insightful information provided at each destination, along with comprehensive explanations of New Zealand's economic situation, history, social changes, and climate, satiated our curiosity and enriched our trip. This was my first package tour, and contrary to my concerns, it was a truly satisfying experience. I highly recommend "Island Travel" to everyone exploring New Zealand's South Island.”

“We played Echoes of the Damned on Monday morning and absolutely loved it! The 9/10 scare rating lived up to the hype – pretty intense, especially for my partner – but it made the experience even more thrilling. Great atmosphere, clever puzzles, and plenty of scares. Highly recommend for horror fans!”

“It's was a pleasure to work with Kim and the team. They made the start and finish to my brother's and my motorcycle vacation absolutely wonderful. They represented the country of New Zealand well. Although we have check this activity off the proverbial "Bucket-List", they have made us consider returning to expound on the great experience. The bikes were modern, stylish and high performance with the proper comfort for our ages (61+). If you're plan is to rent motorcycles in New Zealand, then South Pacific Motorcycle Tours is the only sensible path for the highest probability of success (I didn't mention that we are Mechanical Engineers). Only recommendation versus strong recommendation. Thanks again Kim for the pickup and drop-off.”

    Velocity Karts

    ★★★★★ 4.8
    Open

“Velocity carts is a great little New Zealand company offering land sailing, in their custom designed and made “blocarts”. These carts are fast and extremely manoeuvrable. You can learn to drive a blocart well within one session, although if you have experience in other forms of sailing that is a definite advantage. The controls are simple, a steering wheel and a main sheet (rope) which controls the sail. At the beginning of your first session, the instructors will show a video detailing how to use a blocart and then explain how best to steer through the course. The staff will then be on the course to give advice on how to improve and to ensure your safety. In windy conditions sail sizes can easily be reduced or heavier wheels added to ensure greater stability. The cost of the experience in 2024 was $75NZ per hour per person. Book your experiences through the website.”

“A windy road going up Dyers Pass or Port Hills takes you to a few viewpoints and tracks where you can see a vista of either Christchurch City or the harbour on the other side. There's also a slightly steep but doable walk going up to the back of Christchurch Gondola which will reward you with the same breathtaking views (with some effort involved!). Would recommend if you're after a nice quiet day away from the hustle and bustle of city life! Just be careful of cyclists on your way there as they share the road as well :)”

“Delightful little Cafe on good street. I was quite surprised to find a Cafe in this quiet area tucked away from the main street! The iced coffee was delicious, the breakfast we had was good portioned and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the sausage and bacon as they were cooked perfectly whereas some places quite often burn these or are quite oily. The lady was very nice and served us with a smile!”

“Highly recommended for everyone in the family. A beautiful free (donations are welcome) museum, filled with far more aircrafts than we initially expected. Lots to read and discover, displays were well put together and the pacing through the exhibits is perfect. If you need a break, there is a simple cafe, a lovely little gift shop and peaceful grounds. Wish we had more time to explore this past visit. We will have to set aside more time the next visit!”

    Willowbank Wildlife Reserve

    Open

“Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is absolutely amazing, a perfect mix of native, farm, and exotic animals. The kiwi enclosure was the highlight for me, peaceful, natural, and the closest I’ve ever been to seeing a kiwi up close! The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly care deeply about conservation. The grounds are clean and easy to walk through, with beautiful native bush and photo spots everywhere. Feeding the eels and lemurs was such a fun surprise. Great for all ages, and only a short drive from the city or airport. Definitely one of Christchurch’s must-visit attractions!”

“The most amazing experience at Blood Brothers 4pm Show on Sunday., the show was outstanding. Over and above that, was the extra attention given to me by a lovely usher , having very recently had a foot fracture and I was in a moonboot with crutches. Thank you Maggie for popping my crutches away under my seat for me and getting me a small pillow to put my leg on and also coming back at half time to say you had tried unsuccessfully to find me another seat so that I could put my foot up more comfortably. Your kindness was very much appreciated.”

A number of Punt boats go down the Avon River, guided by young gentleman dressed in the European/English style, to give some authentic vibes to the experience! Charlie was our 'punter' a very friendly young chap, and very knowlegable about the Botanical Gardens we floated beside, as well as all the variety of birds and Ducks on the river!
