“An interesting and enjoyable way to explore Napier, especially if you have limited time available. We booked our excursion through the ship that we were cruising on, the tour operator picked us up near the ship's gangway, and returned us there with plenty of time to spare before our scheduled sailing time. The tour is operated by a father and son team, who also constructed the "train" which transports it's passengers around the Napier CBD and surrounding areas. The son drives the "locomotive" (a modified agricultural tractor), and provides commentary about the history of Napier, with an emphasis on the 1931 earthquake which largely destroyed the city, and the subsequent rebuilding effort, which resulted in most of the buildings being designed in the Art Deco style. His delivery style includes a great deal of dry humour.”

“A fantastic, hands-on experience for all ages! We had such a great time at this museum. It was incredibly interactive with loads of fun things to do, and we learnt so much along the way. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was really well set up—perfect for curious minds of all ages. It’s an especially great place for kids, and we can’t wait to come back when our baby is old enough to get involved too!”

“Bell Rock at Boundary Stream is the most insanely beautiful place in New Zealand that almost nobody has been to. Even local people, I show photos to, and they are stunned. It's like New Zealands Grand Canyon, amazing rock forms. The bush walk to it is also surreal, almost deafening number of birds. An absolute magic place.”

“We did the guided walking tour around Napier’s art deco buildings run by a volunteer from the Art Deco Trust. You need to pre book your places on the tour. It was easy walking, went for about an hour and a half, they provide you with a head set so you can listen to your guide. Great stories, wonderful insights about the city, especially the earthquake history. I’d highly recommend the tour.”

There’s another waterfall further up about 15 mins walk but be mindful that it’s only a look out and some of the track are about 500mm - 600mm you need to be extra careful especially when the ground is wet could be a little slippery.”

All the wines we tried we liked and we bought 6 bottles because they were all so good. Food was awesome too and they had some really great vegan options, the pizza was so good and the home made hummus to die for, which was a nice change. Highly recommend.”

He is passionate to wine and share the best of his knowledge with us. FYI , we booked a lunch time and got an excellent wine tasting before lunch. We tried the $45 & $35 wine tasting. The $45 is the value for money and best value to try all 5 $100 worth wine... 300% recommended.”
