“Stayed at Golden Hotel for 2 nights. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Very clean and tidy, amenities were great. Very close to food places and Westfield mall. Will be coming back here whenever we come back to Christchurch.”
“Super clean everywhere! It was so well stocked with everything we needed. The host was fantastic. So lovely and helpful Plus they have a shop downstairs which is great! Thank you for a lovely stay!”
“Beautifully appointed, super spacious and immaculate accommodation. The owner is lovely and so helpful. Go for the deal that includes dinner locally. I went to the Laboratory which was buzzing and had great food and locally brewed beer.”
“Quick response to booking a private tour from one day to the next one. The guide was really kind and the ride was comfortable, once on the spots he gave us enough time without rushing us and even took photos for us. Thank you for a wonderful day at mt Cook ”
“From the moment Fi showed my partner and I around Waipuna, we knew it was where we wanted to get married. Fi was warm, bubbly, and hilarious—she made us feel instantly comfortable and genuinely excited. Sarah was just as amazing, keeping everything running smoothly with her quick replies and eye for detail. The day itself was more perfect than we could’ve hoped for. The staff were lovely, the setting was stunning, and our guests couldn’t stop telling us how much they loved Fi (and her generous drink pours) and how beautiful the venue was. Being able to stay on-site the night before and after made everything so much easier, especially with setting up and packing down. I felt so calm on the day, knowing Fi and Sarah had everything under control. Everyone was blown away by the views, and our florals (done in-house by Katrin) were absolutely gorgeous. Waipuna was the perfect wedding venue for us—we couldn’t recommend it more!”
“Absolutely beautiful little retreat, the rooms are the perfect size for a couples getaway, the views are incredible and the best part was the hot tub at night with the stars and one of the best wines we have tasted. We feel refreshed and renewed. Lots of extra details that made this place such a gem, from Bluetooth connectivity throughout the room to the luxury bathroom and of course the super comfy bed. Well done to all who make this place so special, couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to start our NZ holiday. Thank you :)”
“Absolute fantastic value for money at the Darfield Motel. Friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. We stayed for four nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Spacious, warm and wonderfully clean rooms. Well equipped kitchenette. Walking distance to the amazing bakery and other places to eat. Thank you Darfield Motel for a warm welcome and perfect stay. Can't wait to come back.”

“Cute place near everything. We walked mostly. Parking is close quarters but at least they have some! Rooms are spacious and comfy. Staff are awesome.”
“A colleague and I stayed in Sumner Bay Motel recently and would be more than happy to stay here again. The service and friendliness of Sophie and Mark was outstanding. We were in the 2 bedroom unit, 2 lovely comfy couches in the good sized living space, beautifully equipped kitchen and comfy beds, Very warm when it was freexing outside. Highly recommend, great motel, great location”
“Great camp. Very handy to Kaiapoi town, the river queen boat and some good walks and bike tracks …”
“Thank you Chet and Steve of being a very good and lovely hosts. Very good stay, the room is cosy, clean and comfortable. They have small little pantry in the room itself - coffee, tea, water and a kettle to boil water. Toilet amenities are also provided. And I like the surrounding garden with planted apples, pears, plums, lavenders and so many others. Walking distance to the nearby cafes and restaurants, and 15km to the Christchurch international airport. As my flight is very early, so I don’t have chance to have the breakfast, which I really love to do it in my next visit again.”
“Worked a Corporate Challenge in Christchurch this week. Commodore Hotel was exceptionally localed for both the event and airport. It has the most luxurious bed. It was like sleeping on clouds. The kitchen was open for a late night dinner, which was very much appreciated with finishing so late. The breakfast this morning was delicious. Offering both a Continental Breakfast and brilliant A La Carte. I opted for the Continental which was perfectly satisfying.”
“Very convenient to central Christchurch. Stayed here a couple of times, Summer and Winter and the contrast is interesting. There is a back deck outside area with covers and heaters. Drag blankets from the games room too if needed. Cosy villa all around. Can't wait to stay again.”
“Stunningly beautiful hotel inside the former Canterbury University. You are surrounded by a historic and arts precinct, there is do much to do right on your doorstop. You can easily walk to everything needed.”
“A great place to stay in Christchurch. This team really understands the word hospitality. Smile, welcome, attention to detail, willing to cooperate and making you feel at home. The front of the house team, led by the gorgeous Vee, is sharp and fast. The restaurant team, led by Mandy, is efficient, welcoming and gregarious. The coffee made by Alexis and Anny is divine, delicious and gorgeous. The chefs in the kitchen are accommodating to your special requests. Thanks so much for making my stays so wonderful.”
“Great quiet place to stay, easy to find after a long flight and the room was kept nice and warm for my midnight arrival. The after hours key was easy to find and the room was lovely and clean. Will definitely stay again”
“We live staying here; both the units and the old house are fabulous and the team on site are the best… always prefer to stay here if we’re visiting Christchurch”
“Came across this place when looking for a place to stay in Little River after cycling the Rail Trail and before venturing further into the peninsula. This place was amazing - it really was - I just wish I had more time than an overnight stop to enjoy it. The design philosophy and practice is totally inspirational. I hope to stay again one day.”
“I've just finished working in Rangiora for 3 months. I stayed at The Riverstone Motel for the whole time and loved it. Quiet, convenient, and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for super friendly hosts Charlotte and Mike. Every evening I'd come back to the curtains drawn and the heat pump on. It's the little things that count.I recommend it 100% and would go back in a heartbeat.”
“Well appointed, clean and well presented, we loved having the lift as my husband struggles to get upstairs, Phil was very welcoming. We would most definitely stay there again.”
“Stayed for 2 nights when first arriving in Christchurch, the motel was so good that we returned for the last 3 days of our trip. Marko was very accomodating and the beds were amazing. Could barely hear the traffic despite being on a relatively busy road, and was very nicely located to the mall. 10/10”
“Great spot to stay. Super friendly and helpful staff. We were in a bit of a jamb and the lovely lady let us check in at 8am . Definitely got us smiling again. Great food nearby within walking distance and would definitely stay again”
“Big comfortable rooms. Beautiful building and friendly staff. Old world comfort in the middle of beautiful Christchurch. What more could you ask for!”
“The NEW chicken parmi was absolutely sensational, Amazing food, Amazing Staff Would highly recommended stopping by!”
“Definitely a place not to be missed - you will meet the most lovely alpacas here. We had a restful night’s stay with comfy beds and fluffy pillows. Many thanks to Kit for the farm tour and sharing stories which we truly enjoyed. We will be back to visit again!”
“I cannot recommend 306 Riccarton Hotel enough! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome with their warm hospitality, always going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Their friendliness and willingness to help at all times truly made a difference. The price was affordable, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we hardly heard any road noise. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained, with everything we could possibly need—and then some! The location is ideal, within walking distance to nearby shops etc so everything was super convenient. We’ll absolutely be returning to 306 Riccarton Hotel next time we’re in Christchurch. Thank you again to Carol and Phil!”
“Such a lovely unit, everything you need for your stay, the gardens are immaculate, the unit very clean and comfy ... And even had a Christmas tree in the unit ... The most Christmas we've seen since arriving in the South Island. Very much appreciated ❤️”
“Had a fantastic stay at the Randolph Apartments over Labour Weekend! Fantastic well appointed rooms, so clean and tidy, host really friendly and helpful! Also walking distance from some good restaurants! Also loved the fact that they had a bottle of dishwashing liquid not those horrible little sachets! Will definitely stay again!”
“Well located motel just minutes from the Botanic Gardens. We arrived in 5 deg C weather and the heating was turned on for us to enjoy the room immediately. Very thoughtful gesture. Our room had 1 king bed, 2 twin beds, a kitchenette, a dining table with 4 chairs, and a toilet. Comfortable space for 4 adults. Only issue is that the beds are a little on the soft side but pillows are firm & high, which made for a pretty weird sleep at an angle. Washer & dryer available, which were very useful! Kitchen had a full sized fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, French Press, and an induction stove, hob, and pots and pans. Functional! Definitely recommend this place for those looking for a simple, fuss-free but comfortable stay but don't mind soft beds.”
