My wife and I stayed at Sumner Bay Motel for a night while we attended a mates birthday party in Sumner. Everything was perfect. Check-in was a breeze. No hassles at all. Plenty of parking right outside our room. The room itself was very clean and tidy. It was well appointed and nice and private feeling (We had a 1 bedroom apartment) with a balcony surrounded by palm trees. The room was also nice and quiet (great for a good nights sleep!) The location is great! Right by the shops and only one block from the beach. The hosts (Tony and Sophie) were wonderful. Nothing was a problem and they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I would 100% recommend staying at Sumner Bay Motel if you are looking for accommodation options in the area. We will definitely stay there again next time we need to stay in Sumner.

A colleague and I stayed in Sumner Bay Motel recently and would be more than happy to stay here again. The service and friendliness of Sophie and Mark was outstanding. We were in the 2 bedroom unit, 2 lovely comfy couches in the good sized living space, beautifully equipped kitchen and comfy beds, Very warm when it was freexing outside. Highly recommend, great motel, great location

Had a fabulous weekend at Sumner Bay and our room was just perfect! Tony was a great host with a lot of great tips on what to do or where to go. Close to the beach and restaurants and other shops. Had a fantastic weekend and everything was 10 out of 10!! Also great to see it is animal friendly! A great place to stay!!!!!

Really great place to stay if you happen to love easy access to the beach and great eating spots close by. Sophie and Tony are superb hosts and will help you with any local tips you may need. Comfy beds and clean little kitchen with everything you need for an easy weekend away.

What a great weekend I had there! The accommodation is very tastefully decorated, super clean and very comfortable. And they are also dog friendly. The hosts are very friendly and approachable. They went out of their way to help with advise on what to do to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. Well done guys, much appreciated. The motels are very close to the beautiful beach and there are eating places galore, all in walking distance. The bakery sells the best croissants. All in all I was very impressed with this place and hope to return soon.

We had a comfortable & safe in this motel for 2 days. Great location & great view. Chelsea is very helpful with us. Great job in the customer service.

Great location for a great price. I enjoyed my 3-night-stay. The beds were extremely comfortable. We arrived too early for check in but the staff had no problem taking our bags until the time came and they also kept our bags after check out as we had a few hours to kill before our flight home. The staff (Ms. Chelsea) was lovely and very helpful with my queries on how to go around the city. Would definitely stay here again if returning to Christchurch and will recommend to my friends.

After booking weeks in advance for a wheelchair accessible room , we arrived only to be told that we would have to go into another (non accessible)room because other guests without disabilities had requested that room and as they booked for a longer stay then they got preference. The room we were given was totally INACCESSIBLE and my partner in a wheelchair could not even get to the toilet let alone the shower. When I spoke to the person on the desk and told her this I was told "ohh yeah sorry" and there was nothing they could do about it. This is totally unacceptable behaviour and very poor customer service especially considering that our request for the accessible room had been accepted Weeks in advance, then our payment on arrival before going to the room . This was on easter weekend and there was very little other accommodation available in Christchurch which we had to find for ourselves because they could not find anything else. Their entire attitude was a disgraces and I would not recommend anyone with a disability even attempt to stay there.

Nice & close to town centre. Unit 11 was at the back & quiet with view of bit of street. Moved to Unit 9 (2 Floors) as my man wanted a couch..11 was better quieter & would choose that next time. chelsea was helpful & accommodating. Will be back :) the Fried Chicken @ the Korean Cafe & Tapas was worth trying!! Choice of Slaw OR Fries :)

We spent a couple of nights here as part of a "getaway week" and really enjoyed it. The unit was nice and, being on the 2nd and 3rd floors, had plenty of light. A comfortable place to be, and great value for money. While Sumner isn't huge, the Sumner Bay Motel is located about as centrally as you can get (two minutes by foot in any direction will get you: beach; coffee; food; supermarket). While central, it wasn't in any way noisy due to traffic or people in other units. We slept pretty well. The staff were friendly, smiling, and always said "hello" - including all the cleaning staff we met. Somewhat unusual - but in a very good way. Would we return? Absolutely! Great value, great location, and great staff. Ask us when, not if ...
