   If you are like me and are interested in unique then you need to check out the Silostay accommodation. Quiet and comfortable stay with a lot of quirky charm. Neat to watch the stars at night either from the balcony or from the overhead portal. Fully outfitted with everything we needed for our stay. Bonus that they were able to coordinate our Dolphin adventure for us. Also don’t overlook not getting a loaf of their freshly baked bread which was there waiting for us. Although not our thing, the proximity to the biking trail (with the ability to hire bikes from them if you didn’t bring your own) only adds to the value of the stay. Would highly recommend checking this out.

   Best place we stayed on our trip around NZ hands down- everything was super clean and comfortable- the view from our deck was fantastic too. I followed the pillow fluffing instructions in their booklet and have never had such well fluffed pillows- highly recommend reading their booklet thoroughly as it is full of wisdom and sage advice

   This was a great place to stay for couples. Unique design, but kept warm with hot water radiators. Enough space, large staircase. Shower is glass and next to the bed, so not much privacy, but there is a separate room downstairs. Highly recommend staying for couples.

   It was a very unique and fun stay! I found things like the switches and taps really interesting. I couldn’t get the stereo’s Bluetooth to work, so I couldn’t play music, but it wasn’t a problem — I enjoyed watching DVDs and admiring the view instead. I also loved that the kitchen shelf was actually a toolbox!

   Came across this place when looking for a place to stay in Little River after cycling the Rail Trail and before venturing further into the peninsula. This place was amazing - it really was - I just wish I had more time than an overnight stop to enjoy it. The design philosophy and practice is totally inspirational. I hope to stay again one day.

   This was such a unique accommodation experience. The use of space in the Silos is very creative. We had a cozy and comfortable stay on a rainy winters night. The location is quiet and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed get away. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend.

   Very cool idea, motel suites in grain silos. Was very cosy and warm with water radiator heating. Some neat ideas with lighting, roof vent and being able to see the stars at night through the top of the silo. Very quiet and calming.

   If your looking for something different you have to stay here. This place is awsome. The entire concept is so NOT your ordinary motel stay. We stayed in Silo no.1 which had a lovely serene view of the hills and the night sky while you lay in a very comfortable bed. The silo was clean and tidy and very functional with full cooking facilities, separate loo and well appointed ablutions. The instructions/information manual for the tv e.t.c is very clear and written with a good sense of humor. Little River is on the way to Akaoura, offering bike trails, walking tracks, scenic drives, options for dining and an art gallery. So break the journey and spend a night in one of these unique silos. We wish the owners all the success in the world to keep running such a unique place to stay.

   Stayed May 8-10th. What a great stay! I loved every minute!! These silos are not only really cool but also very well appointed. Warm and cozy inside, excellent lighting, wine on the balcony and just the right amount of quirkiness. Additionally there are local Cafe options within a one minute walk. The countryside, the East Bays and Akaroa all easily accessible. Rob is an excellent host as well. Traveled here from the US and will definitely stay again...you should as well!!!
