“Wellingtonians are very fortunate to have a hospital of this caliber in their city, and even more so, that the skills of its dedicated nurses, doctors, and surgical staff and equipment is free!! So many of us believe that the USA is a wonderful, wealthy country, but nothing, absolutely nothing, is free over there! Here, with so many people being hospitalised with covid, and a myriad of other often life threatening ailments, they are treated and discharged, fit and healthy to get on with their lives. In the USA, they are discharged with a million dollar medical bill, or are required to continue paying eye wateringly expensive medical insurance premiums!! So please, please, treat all the medical staff with the respect and courtesy they deserve. They are all doing their very best for you, often under very difficult and trying conditions.”

“Manly Vet Hospital provided a really nice and smooth experience. They were quick to schedule an appointment for the dog I brought in, and it wasn’t busy at all, which made the process very efficient. Their visit price was reasonable and not overly expensive. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend them!”

“These volunteers are angels. I found a baby bird on my driveway, presumably fallen from its nest with no sign of a nest or mum around. I struggled to care for it so the next day I brought baby bird in here. These people were welcoming and caring and said they’d give it the best chance of survival. They also keep in touch with progress. Can’t thank these people enough.”

“The staff are so lovely and experienced. My dog Taz had a day stay recently and the vet, Susan, explained everything to me and was so thorough. The nurses also were so lovely and caring and gave him a head and ear massage which he absolutely loved and it made me feel so happy that he was so well looked after and spoilt. “Nobody wants to go to a hospital at all, let alone for a surgical procedure, right? I've had to be panel-beaten from time to time and that's ranged across private and public care systems. Without any exception, the best care I ever got was at Ormiston. Why? Lots of reasons, but here's a few: Yes, they're in business to make a buck, but that's never in your face (Wellington Southern Cross, listen and learn). Staff are available, patient, and no matter how many times they've seen you or conditions like yours they're really engaged. They've not lost sight of the fact that the patient is first and foremost - human. Not an interesting collection of symptoms. I've seen my cat get better empathy at the vet than I got at a surgical procedure at Middlemore. (I excuse the A&E there who are marvellous) The facilities are quiet, clean, and you have a sense of privacy while experiencing what can be intimate or uncomfortable procedures. Aside from reception, and the recovery area, I never saw or heard another patient, or the consultation going on around them. No matter who came to see me - from specialists through to various nurses etc, everyone knocked before entering my space. It's a small thing, but it tells of respect. They were polite, but friendly - not that plastic airline/hotel politeness either. Everyone made strenuous efforts to ensure I knew what was going on, what the sequence of events would be and what to expect, and who to talk to if I wanted anything whatsoever. If you have any choice about where to go, I suggest Ormiston should be high on your list. If you or anyone is going there - as I said - nobody wants to go to hospital - but you might get comfort from knowing you're likely to be getting truly high standards of engagement and care.”

“My cat was injured and my usual vet didn't have a spot for the same day appointment and after couple of calls to multiple clinics I was able to get an appointment here. I continued with the checkups too. All the nurses and vets I met there were wonderful - very friendly, understanding, answering all my questions, polite and knowledgeable. They were really concerned to give my cat the very best care.”
