“Wow! Just Wow! This was our first ever BnB experience so were apprehensive on booking. From the moment I knocked on the door I knew we had struck gold. We were treated like their family and the surroundings, service and extras were just way beyond any expectation. I cannot rate this BnB high enough. “We arrived very late at night and still it was no problem to our wonderful hosts who waited up for us. It was a rainy and cold night and it was wonderful to arrive to our preheated quarters. The place was very clean and modern, great decor and art throughout. It was my first stay at a BnB but I would have to say this place would have to be considered at the top end of BnBs. We enjoyed our peaceful and uninterrupted stay. We are already planning our next stay. Thank you Brett and Sally for making your home ours as well. AAA+++”

“Great place to stay while visiting Hobbiton. The room we had was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast provided in the morning was filling and delicious, and the hosts were great! I managed to leave behind my Airpods and they were kept safe for me in a baggie with my name on it and the date of my stay.”

“Have just checked out after staying for 3 nights in the family suite & cannot recommend this place enough. They have thought of everything, from flannels specifically for makeup to chilled water in the fridge. The beds were extremely comfortable, the space was clean, tidy & enjoyable. The spa was an absolute highlight & the staff are great!”

“Just ate at the cafe. Wood fired pizza was excellent, enjoyed a Greek Salad. A nice place to spend the evening, and have a drink after a day of hiking. A beautiful waterfall at the bottom of the drive. Would definitely pop round again!”

“Was my first time on a overnight hike. Went with the family and really enjoyed it. Took 3.5hrs to walk up from by krangahake gorge(ohinewai fal). Amazing views, river walks and many waterfalls to see. Even got to see glow worms at night. Didn't stay in hut as was fully booked but stayed in tents which made it more amazing.”

“The apartment was an unexpected pleasure to stay in. I thoroughly enjoyed everything and the service was an A+. I enjoyed eating over the road and could not resist trying the highly recommended fish from the nearby wharf. To our surprise, as we did not realize the sea in front of the Silos was so tidal, when we turned the lights out we could people spearfishing under headlamps just in front. Amazing.”

“We stayed for two nights at the beautiful Awa Retreat, what a lovely place to stay, the hosts Cathy and Murray are so friendly it is like meeting old friends, the apartment is clean and tidy and has all the comforts of home, the breakfasts are beautiful and the wild bird life just outside the property is just delightful. The location right beside the Mighty Waikato River is perfect, a stroll along the walkway was very relaxing and we enjoyed seeing the native trees flourishing in this pretty spot. We are happy to recommend Awa Retreat and will stay again next time we come to Hamilton. Thank you Cathy and Murray for opening your lovely home to us. Cheers Joanne and Peter”

“It’s not often that a place you stay at ticks all the boxes, theres always something wrong or a bit weird, but not here. The Breakfast provided (with home made elements and local produce from growers markets) was excellent, the beds and pillows were great and super comfy (this is something I often find disappointing at hotels) , and the bathrooms were just like a 5 star luxury hotel. John and Kay + their friendly dogs were the perfect hosts, and in a way it was like staying with friends. They provided a cot and high chair for our 9 month old baby, plus made the main area safe for him to roam around in (and tolerated his yelling throughout the night) The surrounding bushland and the serenity emanating from it cannot be accurately described, just book a few nights here and experience it for yourself!”

“Possibly the cleanest and newest place I stayed in NZ. The room was huge, bathroom was spacious, kitchen set up was nice with fridge. Highly recommend the stay at this lodge! Only downside is bit far from CBD so about 30min walk into town.”

“We stayed at Pirongia Forest Lodge as a high-school hockey team. The facilities were clean and well set up. The kitchen made cooking for our large group a breeze. The beds were comfortable. Kate, the warden is lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed the facilities and our morning forest walks behind the cabins. The view is spectacular from almost every aspect. Highly recommend taking a large group to stay there. The only draw back was having no Internet connection so we couldn't access our game recordings. But the cell coverage was very good. And they have a great big screen set up for watching films etc.”

“Small town quiet escape off the beaten catch. The rooms were very nice, especially the master bedroom which offered great space and sitting area. John and Jenny were Accomdating and cooked a great breakfast. The immaculate garden, sheep in the backyard, and mountain in the distance made the stay memorable. No credit card payment.”

“This is a lovely motel. It is clean and modern. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. It is very close to Waikato hospital making it perfect if you have family there. We had the 2 bedroom unit and it was perfect for our whānau of mixed ages - grandmother, daughter and a 15and 4 year old. I highly recommend this motel.”
