“A nice little takeaway serving freshly cooked Indian food and snacks. The menu items are limited which makes the choice of items very easy. The food is kept in heated display units which makes it easier to order and choose from. Taste is nice and balanced in terms of spices. The staff are nice and helpful too. Prices are reasonable and genuine. A couple of seating stools are inside the takeaway for a quick bite. Very nice experience overall.”

We had what can only be described as the best pizza in Auckland. The standout? The Carne Pizza – loaded with perfectly seasoned meats and baked to wood-fired perfection. But don’t stop there – the Bella Stacciatella is a creamy, flavour-packed delight. And don’t even think about skipping the Arancini balls – crispy on the outside, rich and cheesy inside – they’re the perfect appetizer to pair with an ice-cold Peroni Beer. “The Shelf is such a charming coffee shop! The decor is super cute, with unique and quirky items displayed on every shelf, giving it a cozy and fun vibe. They offer light snacks and some creative coffee options—like the sesame coffee, which I regret not trying. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, definitely a bit different from other coffee shops. It’s a lovely spot to hang out or even do some work on your laptop. As for the coffee itself, it’s good, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the unique ambiance!”

And the pizza… wow. Tasted like proper firecooked perfection. Crispy, smoky, and insanely tasty. The vibes in the place are super cozy too, making it the perfect spot to chill and enjoy good food especially with mates. Nithya really made the visit unforgettable with her energy and attention to detail. Can’t recommend Proper Pizza enough, and if you go, definitely ask for Nithya, she is amazing!”

“Indian restaurant in Ellerslie. A real gem of a restaurant. Can't fault any aspect of this place. The food was delicious, fresh and tasty and the service was very good. We were a party of 11 and all our meals were made within a reasonable time from ordering. The decor really adds to the experience. I look forward to going back when I'm in the country and in the mood for great quality Indian cuisine.”

“Just moved into the area and delighted to find a most excellent Indian just around the corner - an unusual finding in Auckland, which suffers from many bland, sugar laden and flavour-free curry houses. Shahi’s food is flavour-rich, perfectly proportioned and of excellent value. Loved the goat curry - rich, creamy and properly spicy as ordered. Service was prompt, friendly and engaging. As new locals Shahi will become our new local and we’ll definitely be back. Yum!!!”

“This place is really great, and I have had an awesome experience and will probably be coming back soon. The atmosphere is cozy and pretty, and the service is friendly and helpful. I had vegetarian dishes like the vegetarian giozas and the tofu salad and found them very delicious, and the people I ate with had foods that contained meat such as the pork belly and the tiger prawns, and they enjoyed them a lot as well. We also had the Hiuse Sundae, and we loved it. It contained a new and interesting type of food which we had never tried before like the matcha ice cream, the black sesame ice cream and the yukimi daifuku, and it was so different than any dessert I've ever had, it was so great. My personal favourite dessert was the sweet, hot banana and chocolate spring roll. In short, this place is fantastic, it was a great experience and I warmly recommend it.”
