We had dinner after Santa parade last November. It's full my husband moved outside and the staff told him that table was reserved however they are gracious to allow my husband sit on the table for 30 minutes. The staff are courteous and served us well though we're walk in costumers. The table beside us check out so it was empty. My husband asked a staff if we will transfer however they just moved the reservation on that table no difference with the ambiance all outdoors so I'm giving 5/5 for service, food and ambiance. Thank you so much. Highly recommended and surely we will be back. Service is quick too.

My first apprentices birthday today from many moons ago 1956! We decided to go to Cheep and Chong Asian restaurant in Orewa! ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY, service from young male waiter was excellent, felt he cared about us and what he had to offer from menu and drink list! The time frame was excellent cold beers each followed by our assorted order! The presentation was excellent and the tastes were just amazing! We all enjoyed the various flavours cooked with care and attention! I would not hesitate to recommend Cheep and Chong cuisine to discerning diners who are looking for exceptional food and service! Thank you team Cheep & Chong well done! Arthur C Charlton west Auckland NZ

We ordered two smalls and a main to share. The scallop leaves were a rough start. Scallop wasn’t fresh and crab had old fish smell and taste. The squid was overcooked and again not fresh. Our Hapuka β€˜dry’ curry was meant to be dry in sauce not the fish. Chilli Marg was below average, dumping heaps of tabasco in a glass and telling me it’s meant to be hot doesn’t make it a good cocktail. Wanted to like this place. Wanted to be constructive in my review but for a lot of us a meal and drinks out is a treat or a special occasion and when that experience is ruined by bad food at the higher end of pricing an honest review is fair. β€œThe new kid on the block” isn’t new anymore, maybe time for a menu refresh or new chef?

Food was scrumptious cocktail was great. Decor of the place was soooo cooooooolllll. Service was decent, not really above and beyond but it is what service should be. Efficient and not intrusive. Food was genuinely really amazing tho. We had and would recommend the: crab and scallops, wagyu beef dumplings, lemongrass skewers, pad Thai and yellow chicken curry. Thanks for the good Tucker.

I'd had this place on my 'dining bucket list' for a while now and I was so happy to finally get the chance to go there last night. We had a 5.30pm booking. The venue was at a lovely level of patronage when we arrived. A table for two. Our service was impeccable all night. We had a young lad look after us towards the end and he was incredible. Our food was made and delivered to us with what I thought was exceptional spend. I had the eggplant chips (not in the photo) and they were heavenly! My main was the crispy tofu (pictured). The tofu wasn't crispy and by the time I got to eating it, it was actually quite soggy which was a bit disappointing. But dish flavors were a party for my palette. The menu had good identification around dietary restrictions. Plenty of vegetarian options too. As we ended our meal, around 7ish, the noise level was really high and it was hard to have a conversation. I really struggled with this and left earlier than I'd have liked as a result. Take aways for me - exceptional service, great food but for me, probably better enjoyed at a quieter time.

Had an absolute blast celebrating my birthday here. Staff were super friendly, attentive, and even went the extra mile to make it a special evening. And the food... where to begin?! I've travelled extensively through SE Asia and their fusion take brought back memories but also bold new combinations. The beef cheek Massman was incredible... Wishing we could do our entire vacation in NZ again, starting with Cheek and Chong

Cheek and Chong restaurant is just a class act others should aspire to be like. The service, just second to none and always polite and happy to help at a moments notice For the location on a main road, it was not problem with indoor and outdoor seating to suit. The food looked, tasted and presented to a extremely high standard that very few restaurants achieve. It is all of the little details that make the whole experience more enjoyable. Like freshly squeezed orange juice. Some might find the prices a little high. But you are paying for a whole experience that can not be faulted. I personally would rather spend the time traveling here and paying more, than visit a local restaurant

We came here during Friday lunchtime and there were quite a few tables available. The interior was lovely and the tables set up on the ceiling as installations were quite cool. We ordered the crispy Hapuka curry which was flavourful and delicious. The kingfish sashimi was also very nice and the shaking beef was a large serving and very tender with Kai lan that was cooked perfectly with the right amount of crispiness. We really enjoyed the sweet and sour pork as well. It was more sour than sweet which cut the richness of the pork belly and was served in large cubes. If we were to come back it would be for the food alone as sadly, the service made it a less enjoyable experience. Depending on who the server was, they were either uninterested or just plain rude.
