“If you're looking for a hostel in Auckland, go here! My stay here was almost three months. It's mainly occupied by young students, as the hostel is located 100 meters from the university. Depending on whether you want one, two, or no windows, you'll get a single room for between $190 and $230 per week (as of November 2022). You'll share a bathroom and kitchen with about 6-7 people. If you stay here for a while, you can make friends. A garage, Wi-Fi, etc., is all available. You do have to pay a $600 deposit, though. You'll get it back after your stay if you don't damage anything. I've heard from some owners that the windowsills broke and they still got their deposit back.”
“Amazing customer service from a lovey lady starting with S today unfortunately I chucked out my receipt and the online one doesn’t show the person that served me, she helped me find the scream tshirt I was after for my daughter for Xmas. She was so helpful and very relatable, amazing style! Thank you!”
“The manager Teegan is amazing. She was fantastic with helping my little one pick out her outfits. Wonderful shopping experience”
“We went there during the King's birthday to find suits for my teenagers and a jacket for my husband. Even though it was a public holiday and the store was pretty busy, we were being assisted by this lovely young lady called Jordyn who was very helpful to find the suits we were looking for in store and also she ordered them online since they dont have the sizes that we needed in store. The suits were delivered 3 days later. Her customer service skills was excellent and we were very satisfied with her professionalism. Thank you once again, especially for Jordyn.”
“I had a great experience recently while shopping for shoes with my partner. Alex, the store assistant, was incredibly helpful from the moment we walked in. He took the time to understand what both of us were looking for and offered thoughtful recommendations that fit our needs perfectly. Alex was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind—making the whole experience easy and enjoyable for both me and my partner. We left the store with exactly what we wanted and a smile on our faces. Thanks again, Alex, for your excellent service!”
“I'm not normally one to right reviews but these guys deserve it. After driving over half of Auckland looking to buy a fridge, these guys, in particular Andrew, were absolutely amazing. I was not dressed up and had been ignored by all the retailers and sales people at other businesses I had visited prior to Magness Benrow but these guys gave me amazing customer service and I was not judged by my appearance. Andrew was very knowledgeable, I told him what I was needing and asked for his opinion and he suggested many points across the fridges I was looking at that I hadn't even thought of. Andrew made the entire process stress free and enjoyable. I purchased the Fridge on Saturday and it was delivered to my house Tuesday. No delays, very efficient. The delivery guys were great! They were very careful and even moved my old fridge into the garage for me. A+++++ will be coming here for any new appliances in the future.”
“Just been in here, the young guy that served us was outstanding, new his stuff and really just a great attitude, a pleasure to deal with.”
“The girls were very helpful in finding the right size shoe for me”
“Nice place to shop around the decent quality kitchen stuff from South Korea. Recommended to everyone who seeks something not common in the kiwi market at reasonable price. There seems to be not much language barrier to choose the products!”
“Favorite shop, staff are always friendly and knowledgeable, I have so many pairs of shoes my Girlfriend says I'm a centipede.”
“The Albany is the quintessential kiwi pub, but with next level food. I had the surf and turf on Turkish bread. The 200g scotch filet and real calamari, muscles and prawns melted in the mouth.”
“Awesome service, friendly as great prices”
“Just had a great experience at Mitre 10 Glenfield. purchased Ego lawn trimmer and blower and the service and knowledge from Richard was superb. Three days later he assisted me in filling out a redemption claim form. No trouble and always with a welcoming smile.”
“Always friendly and a great place to pick up your daily necessities”
“I love this store. Very clean, tidy shelving, easy to find items. The isles are quite wide for a small store, so no one bumps into each other. Produce is fresh. Meat selection is good. It has this really calming feel for simmering so stressful for me as grocery shopping.”
“Pak’nSave Albany is one of the bigger branches on the North Shore, and it definitely shows. The store is spacious, fairly modern, and usually well-stocked, making it a popular choice for families and bulk shoppers. It keeps to the classic Pak’nSave model — low prices, minimal decor, and a focus on practicality over presentation — but the Albany location feels a bit more polished than some of the older ones. The layout is easy to follow, with wide aisles and clear signage, so you’re not bumping trolleys every few seconds. The shelves are usually full, especially earlier in the day, and there’s a decent range of both budget brands and the more well-known labels. Prices are, as expected, very competitive. You’ll find good specials across most departments, and if you’re shopping for a big household, it’s one of the better options to keep costs down. The fresh produce section is generally reliable. Some days the quality is top notch, other times it’s more average — pretty normal for Pak’nSave. The meat section offers good value and a decent selection, and the bakery is basic but has all the essentials. There’s also a reasonable selection of international foods, which reflects the local community well. Staff are usually friendly enough, though it’s mostly a self-service experience unless you go looking for help. Checkout times are fairly efficient, with a good number of lanes open during busy periods and a decent set of self-service checkouts for smaller shops. The carpark is big, but it does fill up, especially on weekends. That said, it’s well laid out and doesn’t feel like a fight to find a spot, even when it’s busy. Being close to other stores and amenities makes it easy to combine errands in one trip. One thing to note, like at other Pak’nSaves, is that what’s advertised online might not always match what’s in store, so it’s worth shopping with a bit of flexibility. All up, Pak’nSave Albany is a good choice if you want decent prices, a clean store, and enough space to do a full shop without feeling crammed in. It’s practical, reliable, and does exactly what you’d expect — no frills, just solid savings.”
“I absolutely loved your Portuguese tarts — they were the best! I’ve been looking for them lately but can’t seem to find them. Where have they gone? Hope to see them back soon!”
“Staff are super friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. In store butcher is one of the best around, parking can be a bit hectic at times but they're truly a part of the Birkenhead and wider North Shore community.”
“A really lovely young man on the checkout today. He's always so pleasant and friendly. Beautiful smile. A pleasure to see a young person who can engage in conversation and provide quality customer service...the pies are good too.”
“Easy to get in and out of the car parking with loads of parking, friendly staff, and well stocked shelves.”

“I went to countdown ponsonby deli and I must say I had an amazing experience. Well done Lucky, for serving your customers so well!! I asked for a special request for the sandwich and he was very kind and patient with how I wanted my food, he was working alone in deli, shame on the management for making the poor guy work all alone in deli, having to handle the kitchen but also the customers, well done lucky keep it up! Enjoyed my food a lot❣️”
“Great spot for Indian groceries! They stock Kesar mangoes—deliciously sweet and full of flavor. Plus, the prices are better than other places. A must-try this season!”
“Nishant helped me to use my plus points before it expires really appreciate the help.”
“Raced into Farmers (Nor west) to update my foundation. However I had my product wrong name. Any other assistance could have said- no, we don't have that, but Mina (beautiful Persian woman) went the extra mile to find out what I actually wanted, and sourced the product from another counter. Her gracious manner throughout, reminded me that purchases for myself deserve to be less hurried and to enjoy taking time for me.”
“The mall features a wide selection of skincare brands, including Farmers, MAC, Lancôme, Estée Lauder, The Ordinary, and more. Currently, there’s a significant discount event happening, which offers great value. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, making it easy to find the perfect products.”
