I get so many compliments on my lashes, and they stay full for ages. Fiona is also very time-efficient and makes the whole experience comfortable and relaxing.”

“Love this place would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. The room we stayed in was nice and warm and it had everything you need in the kitchen. Its affordable and the manager was even up late to wait for us to check in as we were travelling from Auckland. Love how there was another room inside with two singles for those who wants a quiet and peaceful sleep and a double in the main lounge if u wanna watch tv. My husband and I will love to come here again. And our parking was right in front of our room even more better. Thank you”

“I highly recommend Monika. She is the only one I come to and trust to do my eyebrows. if I come and she’s busy I’ll sit and wait for her or come back. She is so friendly and great at her job. She always does a fantastic job on my eyebrows. Leaving them looking really good. I’m a regular client of hers and she always remembers who I am or what’s going on in my life and asks about how I’m going. There’s no one I’d recommend more then her. “Booked the family unit for a weekend and we overall loved it despite a couple of things. Spa was massive and also gated off. Heatpump works perfectly to keep yourselves and kids warm! Definitely had to have it on as the blankets are thin. Would recommend bringing your own or blasting the heatpump. Plenty of towels provided. Water pressure for the shower is okay. Dining table was a little wobbly but seems like it's just missing 1 screw. Wasn't sure if i didn't know how to use the elements or it just stays on one heat setting, HIGH. Nice sized porch and plenty of outdoor chairs to use. Found one cockroach under the couch and still waiting for deposit.”

I have only visited a few times once for pedicure and gel color and tonight a foot/leg massage and I have to say the massage is the best in NZ!!! “Trish, Mark and the team at Greene Brothers have been exceptional!! Last year my gifted pool needed a new pump!!! It was a needle in the haystack job to locate one - given Covid was in full swing! After numerous attempts including cancelled shipments from their supplier, they were able to source one for me...and as of today we have a fully functioning pool!! Great communication, supportive and informative service - these guys are next level helpful - you should give them your patronage because they won't let you down! :)”

“Room was clean and good sized. They took a deposit but I had never stayed there before and given it's proximity to the stadium they probably have some rowdy guests so the policy is understandable. Nice bathroom. I wanted a budget room and got it. I would stay there again. Five stars because anything less is considered derogatory.”

“The buildings are getting a bit tired however a major bonus was the natural springs private spa (not all rooms) It fills with very hot spring water and if you've got the time it's best to fill it 3 hours before you're going to use it so it can cool down without needing to dilute it with fresh cold water.”

“In the 25 years I've lived in New Zealand, I've never experienced hotel service like yesterday. When I requested a room change because the room was a little uncomfortable, the hotel manager was happy to accommodate me. They replaced our room and also split the single bad and adjusted it to the twin bed. All the staff were friendly, the staff serving breakfast in the restaurant were very friendly, and the food was delicious. Also, when I slept at the hotel last night, it was so comfortable and quiet. Thank you to all the hotel staff.”

“I used to skip this restaurant because of its low rating, but it completely surprised me — I was wrong! This is my second time trying their dim sum, and I felt compelled to write a review. The portions are generous with plenty of fillings, and everything tastes fresh and absolutely delicious. The salted egg yolk custard bun is a must-try, and the polo char siew bun were tasty. “My room was really well appointed, with everything I could possibly need for a one night stay. I loved the extra little touch of the Christmas card and treats. Just one recommendation - replace the terry-cloth bathmats with non-slip bathmats, as my bathmat slipped out from under me when I was stepping out of the shower, and I had a little fall. But otherwise, everything was great and the price was such good value, so I would happily return.”

“Stayed 2 nights. I spent many nights in this hotel in the early 2000s. The character hasn't changed, it is old world delightful. The room was clean and well serviced. This was a nostalgic stay for me but I am really happy I chose the "La Grand". It is incredibly good value for money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.”
