Got ripped off an extra $85 for their parking. They charged our room but didn't on-pay Wilson Parking. Staff were friendly but uninterested. We had asked for parking as it was advertised that they had it. They don't but apparently have a reciprocal agreement with Wilson Parking. We had to drive to a Wilson parking building around the corner. Parked there. Was given assurances from this hotel that the parking was covered (we still have the bit of paper confirming our room will be charged). Room was charged but they didn't on-pay parking building. Room was average at best. Breakfast was included. Woke up and went to breakfast. No kitchen. Breakfast was at a sister hotel a few minutes walk away. Was ok. Left Wellington and returned home. 3 weeks later I've received a fine from Wilson Parking saying we didn't pay for parking during our stay. Explained the hotel was covering this cost. We had proof and had charged us but they don't want to know. SO DISGUSTING. Sooooo dodgy. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

This centrally located semi-highrise hotel was the perfect fit for my time in Wellington. It’s right where I needed to be and the price seemed pretty reasonable for all it offered. I think I may have lucked out being on a high floor, but the views were outstanding, the airflow between windows was great, and the water pressure was a true gift after lots of walking. I really enjoyed the nearby shops and restaurants and the attentive front desk. There is no gym but there are plenty of other things to do around the area. I would return.

I had a very pleasant experience at Mercure Hotel. Check-in was excellent β€” fast, efficient, and completely hassle-free. The room was clean and well-prepared, offering a comfortable base for my trip. Location is a major highlight: right opposite McDonald's, with the Night 'n Day convenience store and NZ Post just on the corner. There are plenty of cafes, eateries, and clothing stores featuring New Zealand designers within walking distance, making it ideal for both leisure and shopping. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. A standout moment was when they assisted me in locating my lost mobile phone β€” truly above and beyond! Wi-Fi performance was average. In the evenings, it fluctuated noticeably and made it difficult to stay connected β€” likely due to high usage. It was better in the mornings, but the inconsistency was frustrating, especially when trying to get things done online. The shower could use some maintenance, as the water flow was uneven β€” possibly due to lime buildup β€” and even at full temperature, it could have been hotter. Despite these issues, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely return. Mercure Hotel offers great value, a prime location, and warm hospitality.

Good location. Hotel is a bit tired. Great view from our 15th storey suite. Bathroom vent to building exterior made the bathroom cold the whole time. Luckily it had a fan heater which we had on every time the bathroom was used. Without aircon/heating I imagine it wouldn't be a pleasant stay in Winter.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay and slept well; it felt like home. Although check-in was set for 2 PM, we arrived at the hotel at 7 AM and had to wait until 9 AM for our room to be ready. We appreciate the receptionist's help during that time. The buffet food was good, but we would prefer a selection of halal meat as well. One issue in our room was that the microwave was difficult to start. Despite this, we will definitely return here if we visit Wellington again.

Very run down, even though some rooms have been renovated. Smells super musty! Beds had springs poking out, shower had half a screen- which then caused flooding, holes in the walls.. the list is endless! Such a shame.

I am not sure where some of those photos have been taken taht can be found of this hotel, but it certainly was not in the room that I stayed in! Out dated, only 2 power points worked in the entire 2 bedroom apartment, the TV didn't work in the bedroom, connection to internet did not exist (in theory they should have it but it did not work- not ideal when travelling for work), shower is one of those potable cabins where you feel you are taking a shower in a urinal and belongs more in an Ibis than a Mercure. Hair dryer didn't work and neither did the heaters. Portable heaters had been bought into each of the rooms- you know the ones that you are nervous to leave on while you sleep in case they start a fire and you die in your sleep- yep those ones. Pilows hard as a rock. Towels were once upon a time white but now a lovely shade of grey. But hey at least the location is good. Spend your money somewhere else. I am a member of Accor and can hand on heart say I will never stay here again.

Not worthy of the Mercure brand and certainly not 4-star. Paid $270 for the room, stayed in 501. The room looked very tired, many places with scuff marks, paint peeling. The bathroom extractor fan was covered in a thick layer of dust. Lobby was full of piles of carpets. Luggage storage was done in plain sight of reception where anybody can walk past. There is no breakfast room. Construction noise started at 6am. I think I barely slept 4 hours, somehow the bedding was uncomfortable also. The only plus is the location. Of course due to the FIFA World Cup there were very few options at this time.

Did a Saturday night shopping stay over. Recommend paying the extra for a harbour view. Just stunning. Great room and facilties. Staff were helpful. Location - can't do better than this. We used public transport.

I’m very torn about this hotel, the location and staff were 5 stars but the hotel is very dated. My shower handle broke and they were very quick to fix it. Unlike other reviews, my room was serviced daily and they did a good job. There were scuff marks on the walls throughout and the decor was poor, my windows were filthy and it was loud but this is expected with the location so close to restaurants and bars. There was no waiting around for the lifts which can be a problem in smaller places. The features include a restaurant but it was no where to be found. I would stay here again, but it would have to be at a discounted price.
