Walking through Rowena’s feels like stepping into a live documentary where the narrator says, ‘And here we find the weary traveler, instantly healed by great food, kind people, and scenery so pretty it should be charging rent.’ Clean? Immaculate. Atmosphere? A holy mixture of laughter, peace, and the occasional bird who insists on auditioning for lead soloist. You don’t just stay at Rowena’s — you’re enshrined in it, like some lucky royal guest inside a monument built to joy. Even the manager Murray has been here lots and is always about to help. “I initially only booked for one night. But then I decided to stay another night. The host was so nice and welcoming. The room was super comfy and the bed was even more comfortable! The host offered me a discount for the 2nd day which was amazing! Overall one of the best lodges I've ever stayed at! Highly recommended!”

“Lively friendly family iwned and run motel. Made us feel very welcome. Lovely clean rooms setup like home away from home. Each room had coffee, milk, tea and sugar. Free wifi, freeview and sky tv. Laundry services onsite ..were a little bit pricey but hey its a motel. Owners were friendly and accomidating.”

“We booked one night when we were already in the airport. They picked us up few minutes after the calling for 7$ per Person. Nice place, very friendly and helpful staff. ATM, Supermarket & restaurants are nearby. Kitchen with all you need to cook available + free coffee & tea. Laundry + dryer costs 8$.”

“Really interested building which has had some pretty important guests over the years including the Queen of Tonga and also the Queen of England. Lovely feel to the place. Very quiet and peaceful. The rooms were a decent size. The kitchen was clean and spacious and the living room area was really well set out and comfy. The hostel is just a couple of minutes walk from Parnell high street which means that you have shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Would certainly stay here again.”

“I stayed for 2 nights at Takanini Park Motor Lodge and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful, especially the manager who went out of the way to make sure everything was comfortable. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the location is convenient with easy parking. Definitely going to stay here again in the future...”

“Morning calm Lodge is a beautiful 21 acres to stay in with trees. I like being here.it's quiet. there are nice people here . I have been here for a while and I haven't had any problems here the boss and management are lovely people and easy to get along with and very helpful if it wasnt for the boss and management we would not have a roof over heads.its nice of them to accept animals. They are improving the 21 acres to make it more comfortable for the tenants that live here .”

“Cheap hotel with a great location next to Hagley park. Easy check in and out with a friendly staff. Bathroom looked recently renovated. Bed was comfy and clean. Near to nice restaurants (recommend Thai orchid) and a 24 hour convenience store.”

“Amazing Service 100%, I didn't choose to rent a room due to having my own family members allowing me to stay with them, but if i didnt have any other options i would have chosen to stay at the Favona Lodge. I was given great options to choose from, the owner had a lovely smile and was sooo polite and she just made me feel welcomed. its Very Clean, (which was the very reason i looked into renting a room there), And ive heard they had cuute bunnies which i didnt get to see but would have loved too, Greatly Recommend the Favona Lodge for anyone who is in need of a room or space.”

“This place is unique like no other. Margie is so lovely, entertaining and such a brilliant character and host that I cant remotely relate to the previous review left on google in any way whatsoever. It must be an airbnb thing? The homestead has been operating as a private residence for such a long period of time and closed to nightly stays that I can only guess that the reviewer is abusing the privilege, of the ability to leave a false and malicious statement, for some nefarious reason. Oh well perhaps google should only accept reviews with proof of purchase. This place oozes charm is incredibly welcoming and was a total pleasure to stay in.”

“I dont know what the other reviewers got but our room has a new bed very clean bedding, it's very clean, kitchen and bathroom are well appointed. Very quiet esp on a Saturday night. Good parking outside our unit. Yes we had to pick up key at 95 Hutt Road abt 5 properties away that's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. This is a budget accommodation and very very nice for what we paid and rated accordingly against that”
