I have never had such a pleasant stay at anywhere I have stayed before like at Aotea lodge! The wonderful owners are so welcoming and professional and very friendly. The rooms are clean and beautiful. Me and my husband are newlyweds and we had such a lovely stay! Thank you so much! I highly recommend Aotea Lodge!
Booked three rooms a month and a half ago for my family to stay at. On arrival today they then tried to charge family members $200 bond for each room per night on top of what had already been paid for. Refused to give the rooms because I was not present even though I had booked the rooms directly with them. Wouldn't charge the bond to my card that was already on file. Disgusting!!! Do not recommend. When I tried to call to ask what was going on was spoken to rudely and then hung up on. Still waiting for refund to be processed.
The room was very dirty, hadn’t even been vaccumed! There was hair on the floor in the bathroom, mould in the shower, grime stuck to the skirtings. The wallpaper was ripped in the bathroom, no extractor fan in the bathroom either and no towel rails. The window latches were falling apart and there was no aircon so had to have windows open all night. Our room was right next to the road so very noisy. Beds were rock hard. The kitchen bench had a big brown stain on it and the drawers felt like they were going to collapse. The plugs are in very strange places and even installed upside down. There was also bubble wrap still left on the chairs like they couldn’t even be bothered removing it and my daughter found a loose screw on the floor and almost swallowed it. Can tell it’s very run down and the minor renovations that are underway aren’t done with much care. When we asked for a refund the husband was very understanding and made the process quite easy for us but then the wife rang me the next day and said they would only process the refund if I agreed not to write a review. Which is awful customer service and just made my trip very stressful so would definetly not recommend staying here!!
Highly recommend Aotea Lodge, the new owners are lovely and very friendly and also gave me a free room upgrade to one with a spa bath upon arrival. The room was big and clean and the bed and sheets felt very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Booked for a night here and after checking in we discovered there were a few things that needed attention. So didn't start off to good but after talking to the owners it became clear they are trying to upgrade motel. The rooms are in the later stages of been redone but there are still some little issues that need attention but most are cosmetic or minor. Bed was comfortable. There is definitely no pool.. Rooms are a good size. Would l stay here again? Yes ,would be good to come back when everything is completed. Owners were very accommodating and are well on their way to making the motel amazing.
I wanted to hire a small conference room for half a day and happy to pay full day rate , but wanted to use my own caterers . This was a no no for Aotea and so we cant hire the room . This did not matter a jot to the management ... so no covid problems at this motel
I would like to say a huge thank you to the owners and cleaners but most of all Sweeny & fams for providing us with a safe comfortable and relaxing environment during our stay. We had been shifted around to a few places but nothing was as peaceful and stress free as our stay at Aotea Lodge. Everyone from the owners to the cleaners were so good to us it truly was an awesome experience. I appreciate all you have done for my family and the community. Thank you and God Bless
Management are rude. Rooms tidy but nothing flash. We weren't allowed to use the pool. Cleaners cleaned 2 times in the week were there. When the cleaners did come to clean they just walk in, no knock to let us know they were coming in. Very questionable standard of cleanliness. We witnessed the cleaner, using our dirty bed sheet to wipe down the kitchen bench in the room we had. Toilet wasn't cleaned by the cleaners at all in the time we stayed there. No toilet paper, when I asked for some the female manager was so rude. Male manager sneaks around going by all the rooms at night, looked as if he was spying on his customers. After speaking the managers regarding the cleaning we witnessed, they became extremely angry at us and threatened to call the police on us. I will NOT be recommending the motel to anyone. Well and truly over priced, and NO they DO NOT accept campervans, even though there is a big red sign advertising campervan sites.
Was just here for STMS course. Nice location, good views out over the harbour. The food the first day was spectacular, shepherd or cottage pie not sure. Second day was some sort of vegetable concoction which was great until I realised the mushroom layer on top. Not a dietary requirement, just me being picky. All in all a great two days. Thanks
A little old but clean. The bathroom was fine with a spa bath. We had a room on the bottom floor and we heard people walking above us and them talking. There was no airconditioning so the people upstairs kept their windows open all night so it was probably noisier than usual. We could hear the water through the pipes when upstairs used the water.
