   This would have to rate as one of the worse places I have ever stayed in. It stunk to the point that we did not want to be in the room at all despite leaving windows open to try and get fresh air in it. DO NOT BOOK INTO THIS PLACE. I wish I had read the reviews prior to staying. It was not clean, and the bedspread was disgusting. We had a 1 x cup and 1 x glass for the two of us and a knife!!!!! Highly not recommended.

   Concert coming to Christchurch, you bet this hotel jacked their prices to about 6 times their normal rate. Avoid places that contribute to dynamic pricing. Prime example Friday and Saturday night would normally set you back roughly $270 for both nights example 16th to 18th Jan 26. Ed Sheeran coming to chc the next weekend 23 - 25th cost for same room $1600. Pictures don’t lie

   They class themselves as a 4 star hotel - its not. It appears to my mind, that it was originally a backpackers, which then someone turned into a motel, then sold, and new owners turned it into a "hotel" and walked away. There is no reception - you are required to call a number which then gives you the PIN to a basic safe next to the door, which you open and find keycards for a LOT of other peoples rooms. My room (Room 12) was an ok size, had what was described, but not in good condition. Walls were badly marked and dinged, carpet did not look like its had a good life. It was also the room on the road front of the property, so had road and pedestrian noise to contend with. Bed was two singles pushed together, with mismatched mattresses. Heat pump seemed to have mind of its own if it was going to give cool or warm air. Curtains were hanging off the rails at one end. Kitchenette was tidy and modern, but very little in the way of cutlery etc. No milk provided for tea/coffee. Bathroom was very modern and clean, but the toilet seat hinge was broken. Shower pressure and temp was fantastic. But did have large frosted windows facing onto the street - while the frosting was very good, it did leave you with a "I'm on display" mentality. I think if the owners spent a day and $1000 on the room, it would improve it to no end. Bit of plaster, paint, and a good carpet cleaning could bring it to life. Location for my work was perfect, but its not somewhere I'd stay again if looking at 4 star rated properties.

   Wow! Awesome affordable motel located in Sydenham. The staff are very friendly (the ethnic ladies) and very hard working our room was always tidied each day with rubbish bin emptied etc great location and there is parking around the back on 2 penbury street. Overall great stay thanks to great staff

   Everything was amazing in this place! Very kindly and helpful girl on reception, clean silent and big room with bathroom, fridge, table, kettle, cups, iron... Lodge is only 10-15 minutes walking from city center and from big supermarket. Thank you for everything.
