“We stayed here in August '25. Really nice hotel. I stayed in room 402, the view wasn't great, but the room was A+. This room has a full kitchen, washer/dryer, king sized bed, large living area with huge TV. The hotel is located across the street from the Town Hall (where my wife's conference was). Everything Christchurch proper has to offer is easily walkable from this location.”

“This is our go to when staying in Christchurch. With young kids, they are safe because when you open your front door you are in a secure courtyard, not right into the car park. Across the street there is also an awesome playground. The rooms are large and clean. The courtyard has aplenty of space, picnic tables and a BBQ. Perfect for family groups or sports teams.”

“My stay here was quite pleasant. I arrived past check-in hours. So, they emailed me the code to the lockbox outside the lobby to retrieve my key. My room was on the second floor. There were two convenient sets of stairs. The room was clean, quiet and well-equipped. I had a rental car and there was ample free parking. There were some reasonably-priced snacks and sodas in the room available to purchase. I spent $10 over the course of a few days and it was worth it. I will definitely stay here again. Front desk staff was very helpful.”

“We stayed in the three room family apartment. It was very clean, modern, and well set out, with a TV in each room, and a large and functional bathroom. Super comfortable beds! Close to the city and very reasonably priced, this was the best accommodation on this quick trip around the south island.”

“Staff were friendly and helpful. The Racecourse Hotel was quite central to catching up with family and friends. It also felt central to shops, supermarkets and places of interest. Our room was simple but comfortable with all that we needed. It had a tv, microwave, toaster and dishes. Our room was clean with towels changed daily. We extended our stay from 6 nights to 12 nights. We will certainly stay again when we venture down next time. Highly recommend. Great restaurant just across from our room and we had a few drinks at the bar where we won a couple of meat raffles. GREAT PLACE.”

“Really impressed with this motel for the price! The room was clean, modern, and spacious. The room was large enough to have an infant cot and still good space around it. The kitchen was petite but exactly as I expected for a studio. The bathroom was spacious, with nice amenities, and great shower pressure. Nice toilet paper too! Haha. Also impressed that our room was serviced even though we only stayed two nights in total. Great location, a short drive to Riccarton Westfield Mall, Tower Junction, and a short walk to a great cafe Addington Co Op.”

The owner said his wife did them! She must be a life loving person! That’s probably why the rooms are so tidy and clean! The owner is very friendly and nice! He recommended a lot of good restaurants and fun places for kids! We had a wonderful in Christchurch! This is the most valuable and comfortable motel in my whole trip! High Recommend!!!”

“I dined here with my partner for dinner and from start to finish we had outstanding service. Very friendly and welcoming staff with warm smiles. Our food wasn’t rushed out which we loved including not rushing our our main after entree. The food was amazing! One of the best we have had and so nicely presented. “Ok supermarket, which is well presented. Plenty of car parking and centrally located in Rangiora. Countdown has a good variety of products. Reasonably priced with most of products that you will need. Good customer service at the check outs and reasonably easy to find assistance if you need help. This supermarket is an ok place to get what you need. Nothing brilliant stands out about this Countdown apart from it's a quite new building, so it is has a very good layout inside and outside.”

“This particular store is quite unique in that they a sell unusual items which you don't find in your typical Chch supermarket. If you're struggling to find something you may just find it in this supermarket.”

“Many things are selling cheap here probably because they are just newly opened. One thing that surprised me was that, in the refill station, they have smoothie stuff which are protein powder, and superfood powder, which I couldn't find in other Park N Save, which I really need. Good job!”

“I cannot believe some of the posts that have been posted about Avonhead Pharmacy. My family have used the pharmacy continually for 31 years and cannot fault Alf, Eliza and their team. We use the services of the pharmacy on a weekly basis. The staff are all friendly, efficient and obliging. The script is processed quickly and accurately. There is a lot of variety in other products sold and a significant number of these are not available in the immediate area. Services such as vaccinations and passport photos are also useful to have in our local area. I would recommend Avonhead Pharmacy to anyone.”
