“(sat 16 august) beautiful cinema and lobby- all very thoughtfully put together, big comfy seats, incredible service (guy that served us was so passionate and friendly and really knew what he was talking about with the film festivals). if i lived closer i would be here 3 times a week. though like other reviews have said it would definitely benefit from some proper popcorn. overall great experience highly recommend!!”
“Friendly staff, easy booking via text and comfortable seating. Small, but really like it, as I struggle with the noise level at bigger cinemas. And sometimes, I want to watch a movie on a big screen :)”
“Really good place. Awesome atmosphere, food and drinks available, helpful and lovely staff. Was a great night!”

“So cute and cosy move theatre❤️”
“If you would like to enjoy a good movie in the atmosphere of lux and comfort, pay a visit to Silky Otter Wigram, which does stand out vs Hoyts. I have been there twice for Jurassic Park Rebirth and Tron Ares, loved everything - bottomless popcorn with a ticket price of $15 on Mondays, fine food and drinks, comfortable leather recliner seats, customer service excellence, the list can go on. No hassle with car parking. Highly recommend. Five Stars”
“The staff were helpful and lovely to deal with after we'd ordered food then needed to take the small one to the bathroom and held our goodies at the counter for us. Venue is always clean, tidy and cozy to be in. Even when its busy its still a pleasure.”

“Small and cosy, great for having a quiet movie night.”
“We stopped into the Reading Cinemas on the Octogon yesterday. It was a good day for catching a movie. We were at the afternoon session so it wasn't busy and we pretty much had the cinema to ourselves. The service was excellent. We had a light lunch and the usual popcon for the movie. Very comfy seats in the premium theatre our movie screened in. The cinema and foyer areas were really clean and tidy. Overall was an awesome cinema experience!”
“Wonderful outing and great atmosphere. Big comfy seats. Disappointed they didn’t have chocolate nut ice creams”
“Went here for the first time to see Wake Up Dead Man and it was a very nice experience. Although the layout made it feel a bit like a bingo parlour upon first entry, the amount of people gathered here gave the venue a much livelier feel than other local theatres, and the screens and audio quality were top notch. It had more of a community vibe than I was expecting and I think we’ll frequent this cinema more often than not in the future.”
“We had eggs and calamari. The eggs had nice rosti but could have been a little runnier. The portion size was good. Calamari was tender. Chips were good. Tiramasu and brownie were very good. Nice, clean space with plenty of room. Family friendly. Service was pleasant. Would recommend for a reliable, nice, chilled weekend brunch.”
“Never a problem at the Embassy It's improved since I moved to Whangnui nine years ago. They have a great variety of films and the international film festivals are always good value.”
“Thank you to the lovely young girls who handed my car keys in that I had left in the bathroom at the cinema and handed into the helpful staff.”
“This boutique cinema I highly recommend for films from other countries that are insightful and memorable. The Documentary State Organs was official contender for 97th Oscars, and win 42 international accolades. It screened August 2025 at Rialto cinema, Newmarket. Transplant human soul collective theme is "want too much another". It is excruciatingly painful for donors, a lot of the time even more so than donor recipients. Liver organ is "regeneration" which can be controlled by being immersed in the Arts- books, film, music, acting. Kidney organs is "marriage ability" which takes a lot of control to manifest the "same right yoke" (Christian term for marriage husband and wife equality). The book Soulmates by Author Rita Roger's is my number one book to describe what everyone has, that one truest love above all, that no one can replace or understand same way. Next year a German Doctor will find me, as he appears in my dreams vividly this year, repeatedly even astral sex lol. Anyway, so this movie State Organs is a documentary to be taken most seriously. I'm a world-ranking University of Auckland Arts graduate in history and media that included: Grades A for Chinese Contemporary Media Grade B plus for Screening Hong Kong Grade B plus Media Studies Grade B for Health Systems This documentary is powerful, and exposes China's state sanctioned billion dollar transplant industry which is forced organ harvesting and brutal prosecution of Falun Gong spiritual believers. Falun Gong protest on Queen street whilst exercising in Tai Chi groups. Transplant abuse even involves tourism to China for this purpose. In New Zealand, there are complimentary alternative healers that can work alongside a Doctor which is what University taught to avoid terminal diseases/conditions. TCM Chinese acupuncture and masseuse on K Road is one good recommendation, as well as colon care in Morningside with colonic hydrotherapy and naturopaths also available. "Human need to poop" is panda animal soul collective theme, which is China's national animal. There is a Facebook group called Kiwis Against Forced Organ Harvesting's that people can also join. This boutique cinema has comfortable seats, tidy, clean with boutique cafe, good for special occasions of film screenings. Highly recommend.”
“Just finished up a lovely night with the girls celebrating one of our friend's birthdays. We were served and looked after by the wonderful staff Rob. Want to say we were so impressed by his customer service, he went above and beyond and made our night a core memory. thank you Rob and staff for a wonderful night will be back next month!”
“Go there just for a coffee, wine, beer and some RD's also light meals, enjoy a movie, seating is extremely comfortable. The facilities are clean and have a very relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy, as I have done. Cheers”
“Very moving museum with good exhibits highlighting the history of Napier earthquake and of the Maori in the area.”
“Comfy seats and theatre warm. Ques long and could have done with more staff.”
