Saw a wonderful movie but the experience was marred by uncomfortably loud sound system in the trailers, especially the booming bass. It felt potentially damaging to hearing. Cinema 4 was very shabby and up lots of stairs. Hand rail was loose at the bottom which made it a challenge for the many people using sticks.

I've rng twice for phone bookings. One at 8am for a 3.20pm movie and one 3 hours before the movie. Neither of these were booked when we came all the way from Kapiti. Luckily we got in Also their loyalty system varies upon whomever you're dealing with. We have double stamps with a 10 trip voucher, then told they don't apply, then told once not to say anymore seeing I shouldn't have even received them! Of late the overall service and staff courtesy has gone downhill. We have finished using all our 10 trip and don't intend coming to penthouse again after 40 years.

Went here for the first time to see Wake Up Dead Man and it was a very nice experience. Although the layout made it feel a bit like a bingo parlour upon first entry, the amount of people gathered here gave the venue a much livelier feel than other local theatres, and the screens and audio quality were top notch. It had more of a community vibe than I was expecting and I think we’ll frequent this cinema more often than not in the future.

Have been coming here for years and the theaters are lovely and an asset to the Brooklyn area. However the cafe service is left wanting and after yesterday's experience has put me off forever supporting this business. You don't drop 60$ in this day and age to be yelled at by the bar staff when wondering, on a quiet Sun morning, where your drink is after 20mins and your movie has started. Better off going to Carribe and sticking with the film. So upsetting as a long term customer.

Cinema is fantastic and we will be back to enjoy a good movie again - love the plush seats and massive screen! However, the cafe left us a little disappointed. It was quite expensive and the food wasn't really good. The couscous was quite bland and the burger was just bog standard. Chips were pretty decent!

The vegan fritters were completely raw and doughy on the inside. The chicken was slightly pink on the inside. There were a lot of flies around. The servers were friendly. Response to your reply: I didn’t bring it up with the server - nothing to do with the server, just the people I was with. I figured the raw fritters were disgusting but wouldn’t kill me to eat them. The chicken was eaten by someone else and none of us noticed the pink inside until they had basically finished it. They didn’t complain about how the chicken tasted but it did seem like a food safety risk. I messaged the business privately right after it happened but I didn’t get a response. If you check your messenger messages it will be there. Hopefully this can be improved in future. Thank you.

Nice Cinema and Cafe. First time there. It is interesting to be informed that it was built in 1938. Enjoyed the evening. Worth a visit if you've never been there. Excellent choice of movies too.

What a great place. Wonderful cinemas, amazing atmosphere. The place is so much bigger than you think. It goes on forever. The cafe inside the cinema is also amazing. Great service, lovely menu. A great variety of meals to suit any food eater. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Great knowledge of their products and services. Function rooms are available as well. A must-see place.

Fabulous place to either enjoy a movie or treat yourself to something delicious to eat, or both! I love the old fashion style of it, and gosh, there are so many comfortable couches to relax. The cafe is beautiful, the food is great, the staff are super nice, there's parking available and it's kids friendly. I couldn't ask for more. Besides, Brooklyn is such a lovely area, you won't regret going for a walk while you're there.
