“Although full restoration of the Municipal Building is incomplete, the Opera House, Foyer and Atrium conversion (to a fully operational function centre) restore the complex to a functional state capable of hosting large events and conferences. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and organised, willing and able to assist from planning to execution of your event. The Opera House acoustics remain world class, the upgrade has improved audience comfort while retaining its Art Deco era appeal. From a technical A/V perspective I did notice a small amount of noise from the venue power supply, but this was easily dealt with.”

“What a great and beautiful theatre the Civic is. It has so many spaces, and walking inside feels like being in a movie. It was also used by Peter Jackson to film King Kong, and today it hosts international shows. The place is very well kept, with respect for the time when it was built. The hall with its starry sky. The bronze. Everything always shining. Very recommended to visit.”

“We went to the Billy Joel show on Saturday evening. It was absolutely superb - the quality of the musicians and singers far exceeded our expectations. The added bonus of a "supper" was a treat. This group should tour the country and beyond with this show. Great energy.”

The dialogue sharp and witty with the lead actress blazing through a series of difficult emotions and heavy themes with flexibility and tastefulness. “Lovely intimate theatre. The quality of the play I saw there (Grand Horizons) was fantastic. The set design was incredible and the acting was practically professional level. The price of the ticket was very reasonable, and there is a bar that you can buy drinks and snacks from. A great night out, would highly recommend.”

“A modern French experience at an affordable price. Choose between the chef’s selection or al a carte off the menu. My companion and I went with the latter option and it was perfect! The service was exceptional. Only suggestion for the future if management can consider implementing is acting in the comments on the booking. I had advised this was for a special occasion but it wasn’t acknowledged. Nevertheless, this was a fabulous dining experience.”

“We went to the bring your baby “Lighthouse littles” session yesterday. The staff were absolutely lovely. As a new mum it was so nice to have such friendly and accommodating staff. They explained how it would work and offered their help if we needed anything. Will definitely go back :)”

“The most amazing experience at Blood Brothers 4pm Show on Sunday., the show was outstanding. Over and above that, was the extra attention given to me by a lovely usher , having very recently had a foot fracture and I was in a moonboot with crutches. Thank you Maggie for popping my crutches away under my seat for me and getting me a small pillow to put my leg on and also coming back at half time to say you had tried unsuccessfully to find me another seat so that I could put my foot up more comfortably. Your kindness was very much appreciated.”

“Our first visit to the new theatre. What an amazing space. Beautifully construction connecting people in many different spaces. The show was fantastic as always. We also had a delicious pizza with sides. We can't wait to go back.”

“Great place to hire for a event, bar available with bar manager, safety officer on site. Full use of facilities, note not wheelchair friendly great seating for 81 people with stage, lighting if required, no need for a mic, small kitchen available.”
