I’ve been to reading cinemas two times in the last two months and every time the cinema is FREEZING, they have no heating on and it makes the whole thing so unenjoyable because I’m focused on my organs not shutting down instead of the movie. Think I’m exaggerating? Honestly, wear a coat and bring a blanket!
My mother in law wanted to take her 13 and 14 year old sons to the movies today but was denied entry due to them not having ID for an R13 movie. Their school does not proivde IDs so they have no way of proving they are over 13. You would think having their legal guardian there they would be allowed to see the movie. My mother in law was denied a full refund and wasted money on parking. I have most definitely been to movies as a teen with my parents without ID so am seriously questioning why they were denied today.
Went to see Lilo and stitch with my kids it was like an ice berg in the cinema, told the front staff and did not get better was so cold in there for the whole movie. The popcorn tasted like some kind of oil. Will not be back what a waste of 80 dollars all up for food and tickets.
Looking for a great time?? Reading Cinemas Dunedin is not the place. Where A Popcorn Odyssey (Almost) Gone Wrong. First flick in New Zealand, hyped for the big screen experience at Reading Cinemas Dunedin. Bleh!! The place was like a lost sad Narnia and turned inside out - crumbs everywhere, and who knows what lurked between the seats. The elevator? Don't even get me started. Think beer meets month-old socks. Not exactly the pre-movie ambience I was going for. And then there were the snacks. Brace yourselves, dont go there hungry, because this is where things get tragic. Popcorn selection? Basically nonexistent. Just kernels masquerading as popped corn, seasoned with enough salt to dehydrate a small whale - like me. Yes me fat.. me proud fat. Needless to say, the movie itself couldn't quite make up for this cinematic catastrophe. Look, if you're reading this and considering a good movie time, do yourself a favor and grab a microwave burrito and a blanket - you'll have a more enjoyable experience at home.
Nice cinemas and big screens, even better if you choose a better cinema screen there, although it does cost more money
Great location. Good facilities. Service was a little slow as everyone had large food orders with their tickets. Probably needed an extra cashier.
Very honest staff who returned my partner's lost wallet with cash and cards intact. That part gets 5*. But why, oh why are the ladies toilets always so revolting? Does anyone ever clean them? It actually puts me off going to the movies.
Pretty nice theatre, sound could be balanced a bit better, very much sounds like it's coming from the front rather than surround. Premium seats are worth the extra dollar
Cinema itself was fine, staff working seemed like they didn't want to be there and the restrooms were the most disgusting restrooms I have ever entered.
We stopped into the Reading Cinemas on the Octogon yesterday. It was a good day for catching a movie. We were at the afternoon session so it wasn't busy and we pretty much had the cinema to ourselves. The service was excellent. We had a light lunch and the usual popcon for the movie. Very comfy seats in the premium theatre our movie screened in. The cinema and foyer areas were really clean and tidy. Overall was an awesome cinema experience!
