“I was really really pleased with the quality of the meals and the excellent service at this little side street restaurant on Riccarton Road. We began with bhajee, which was light, soft, and served as an excellent appetiser. The freshness was apparent, and the portion size was generous, comfortably enough for three people. The presentation was appealing and added to the overall positive impression. Next, the lamb seekh kebab was beautifully presented and extremely tender, pulling apart effortlessly. The flavours were enjoyable and the medium spice was perfect for a wee bit of a kick. A highlight of the evening was the lamb vindaloo. The spice was well-absorbed into the lamb, which was firm yet tender. The vibrant colours and earthy flavours made this dish feel hearty and authentic. For a lighter contrast, the chicken saag delivered a smooth and clean flavour. The chicken was wonderfully tender, practically falling apart, and the dish’s subtler colour allowed the flavours to shine without being visually overwhelming. The garlic naan was another success, with a soft, chewy texture that paired perfectly with the mains, serving as an excellent accompaniment to the sauces. The beer was served in particularly excellent mugs, adding a touch of quality to the dining experience. The restaurant itself exudes a comfortable, home-like atmosphere, though the decor could benefit from some enhancement. Service was attentive, with plates promptly cleared after each course. Additionally, the kitchenware, glasses, and silverware were all clean and suited the environment appropriately. Arjee Bhajee offers a solid dining experience, particularly if you enjoy lamb dishes. However, be prepared for some dishes to be priced on the higher side, though it might be fitting for the excellent quality of the dishes. Nevertheless, it is a place worth considering for a relaxed evening with quality food.”

“Two fat Indians is a nice restaurant in the heart of Christchurch city. The good thing is that it had authentic desi taste and not sweety taste in dishes we tried. We had Chicken Malayi tikka that was awesome (although quantity is small for price). The lamb shank Nihari was also very good (a bit salty but tasty) and meat was tender. Seating place is good and service is also good. Recommend if you love desi food and taste.”

“I went to Everest Indian Restaurant in Parklands yesterday. The food was really delicious, and I was very impressed with their service. The staff were polite, kind, and very respectful. They truly cared about the customers’ needs. Along with the great food, I also received wonderful customer respect. I’ve never experienced such amazing service anywhere else before. Prawns were presented nicely and had tails on, and stir fried, medium spicy was not very hot. I don't like deep fried food, but others who had the Dynamite Chicken enjoyed it. “My wife and I had been talking about going to Barberra over the last week, only to see a recent Instagram post indicating some changes coming - which motivated us to pop in. The main attraction being the Kokoda (pronounced Ko-kon-da), which is a Fijian version of the Samoan oka / raw fish. We were looking forward to the Beef Rib which featured on an online menu but wasn’t on the in-house menu when we arrived. We thought they seemed short staffed given the number of diners - but to be honest, we didn’t feel we waited very long at all. The frickle (fried pickle) is a bit weird and sweet, but apart from that the rest of our dishes were great - including the kokoda. Only other very minor gripe was the pork belly which wasn’t as tender as we hoped but we still shovelled that down. Would easily return if the opportunity arises.”

Loads of seating. Modern, comfortably enviroment, with local shuttle service. Friendly, helpful bar staff. Opening a tab for meals & drinks is not a problem with Specators member card. Plenty of TAB facilities. Great fun for a night out, spend a little or alot.”

“The reason for our visit to the Garden Restaurant Buffet was for Christmas Lunch. This is the first time we have gone out for Christmas Lunch so was a bit dubious about it all and having read some of the reviews (mostly to be honest from just the normal buffet service) wasn't sure we had made the right decision. After getting more nervous by the day as Christmas Day came we arrived at 11.30am for our allocated 2 hour dining experience. It was busy as can be expected for Christmas Lunch. We were shown where our table was, given our drinks vouchers (one glass of bubbly or non alcoholic per person with the cost of the dining experience) Tickets for the Lunch were (I think) $180 per person and we dined with 4 adults and one child. The tables were nicely laid out with Christmas Crackers, candles and a chocolate for after per person. As it was busy (we thought booking at 11.30 would be a good time) we all decided to have a quick look through the buffet and decide what we wanted to try first. Initially we were disappointed as most of the more popular dishes were almost gone and had not been replenished but it only took a request to some of the staff for these to be quickly replenished or as quick as the chefs could get them prepared. To be honest the selection of food was more than anyone could expect for a Christmas Lunch, so many choices (food stations) and the food had their individual flavours and didn't taste like a buffet sometimes can. It was faultless and not to mention the salad station and the dessert station (if you could cram it in after the selection of mains) also available was tea and coffee and a selection of Christmas baking. I would like to thank the Garden Restaurant and Buffet for their efforts on Christmas Day, and for the staff taking time out from their families to work to feed all the people that turned up on the day. I was impressed and so were our other guests especially being first time Christmas Day buffet goers. Just thinking if we would go again, and yes we probably would. $180 per person is quite pricey but given that it's Christmas Day, the selection of food and the amount of staff that were on I considered it to be well worth. Only thing we would do next time is arrive a lot earlier or at least for the first time slot of the day. Thanks team.”
