    Not impressed. Waited 15 minutes to be served. Ordered the blue code at a price of $29.90. Came out to the table slightly crunchy with the fish a little too wet - clearly not fresh fish. But what really got me was the size of the blue cod and the meal! The pieces of cod were no bigger than a crumbed fish finger - it was equivalent to a children's size meal. How can a chef or any hospitality establishment look at that and feel proud of what you are giving your customers?? Seriously disappointed.

    Thank you Speights Ale house! We had booked in lunch here for 20 people for labour weekend this year to celebrate our upcoming wedding. These guys, despite there being a sporting event on, made sure we had our own space upstairs away from the crowds. We were especially delighted with the service we received since it was so busy (the staff looking after us handled our group and the busy environment exceptionally!!) And many of our friends described it was the best meal out they had enjoyed in ages!! We will 100% be back, thank you so much for ensuring our lunch and celebration went smoothly.

    Dined out for lunch here and so impressed with everything. The table service from Jasmine was absolutely wonderful. She was prompt and how nice to have a happy and friendly waitress these days :) food was on point and came out super fast so we weren’t waiting around for ages. Well done Speight’s ale house!     Speights went out of their way to make a triple birthday dinner super special for my sons. They allowed us to go in earlier and set up decorations and put the 3 cakes in the chiller. They supplied little plates and napkins for them to be served on after dinner Although there was close to 30 people eating the waitress had it all under control and the meals came to the table quickly and all the meals were delicious, with generous sizes.

    Thank goodness I booked. Very busy lunch time crowd. But service was excellent as was table attentiveness. Wait time for meals was not too long and the meals absolutely excellent. Can highly recommend the lamb shank and chicken parcel meals.

    Servivce was good, polite staff and the food came out in a fairly reasonable rate. Presentation and taste of the food ordered was great. We went on a Saturday night when there were no sports happening, and the place was fair quite, so worked out well as we also had a child, so wasn't noisy. A decent selection on the kids menu that also includes an ice cream sundae.

    I went here with my boss and it was ok. I got a cider and some ribs with a mash. They were yummy. They have no heaters for vaping outside so smokers wear extra layers. The service was very slack. We weren't happy with the service. They messed up our order and had an attitude with us while trying to correct it. Snapped at us that we hadn't paid for the cider after asking why we never received the gin and tonic my boss ordered when we didn't know what they were up to with putting the cider on the bill but they put the invisible gin and tonic on the bill. Also served us one mash instead of 2 so we had to share so I had left hungry. Overall was an ok experience.

    My husband and our 6-year-old went here for lunch, the waitress seemed rather inexperienced, didn't offer us kids' menu or kids entertainment such as colouring pencil and paper etc. so we went to the counter to ask for them. When the meal we ordered came, my medium-rare steak was cooked to well done, so I showed it to the waitress that this isn't what I ordered, she looked puzzled and asked if I wanted her to take the plate back to kitchen for a redone, I said yes and after a while another waitress came and asked, "you ordered medium rare right? So that steak you sent back do you want us to cook more or cook less?" My husband and I were a bit shocked at the question, maybe she was just being thorough but it seemed more like lacking of basic training/knowledge. Overall the food was acceptable, but the staff interaction (or lacking of it) was rather off putting, we went to a restaurant for a wholesome experience and unfortunately it was not found here.

    Really really surprised by the experience had. Amazing service and fantastic food. A simple bacon and chicken carbonara that rated amongst the best I've had. Muscles as a starter that tasted as fresh as you can expect with a perfect sauce. And a salmon dish really well cooked. Even the seasonal Speights beer was good. Highly recommended for a beer and a bite.
