“I come here almost every morning. Great food and coffee, nice staff, kind and helpful. Pet friendly. I must say recently this Month an elder man had an episode (seizure, heart attack, I don’t know exactly what it was) and dropped all the tableware. The staff quickly gave him space and supported him. They cleaned it up the place, called the ambulance and the owner/ manager kept the old man’s company talking to him and calming him until the ambulance arrived. It’s not only a business but a great place with incredible human beings.”

Although they don't have chips/fries, their rosti is definitely the better replacement. Very accessible being adjacent to the train station as well as having plenty of parking spaces. The public playgrounds next-door make this a great option to bring your children along.”

“As a tourist passing through, my partner and I made a quick stop at Gloria Jean's Southgate on our way to Hamilton. I had a takeaway salmon quiche and enjoyed some freshly baked muffins on-site. The coffee was exceptional—rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed. What truly stood out was the outstanding service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Our food arrived promptly, which we really appreciated as we were quite hungry. Overall, it was a delightful stop with great food, excellent coffee, and warm hospitality.”

“Have ordered twice now Big Breakfast on UBER EATS and I demolished it because it was so fresh, and still hot when arrived. My coffee was hot. Had to leave a review regarding my Uber Eats orders I've made and how 10/10 they were everytime. Delicious sausages and the garlic mushroom so full of flavour. “Great food, felt like I was back in the Middle East. Loads of food in a eat all you can buffet.for $30. Food was fresh and tasty, was very busy but they squeezed us in on a Saturday night. It's an eat and go type place, you godforsaken the food rather than the atmosphere. Would recommend for those who love Lebanese.”

“I popped in this morning while waiting for my car to be serviced down the road - staff uber-fine with me buying a coffee and setting up my laptop for a couple hours to get some study done - the blackboard menu won me over for a toastie as well - 5/5 so far as toasties go. “If I could rate Palace Cafe higher, I would. There are three stand out things here. First, is the truly home made cabinet food. It's so wonderful to go somewhere and not see the same old bulk supply slices and biscuits. This is food with real flavour. Second is the delicious, generous and very reasonably priced meals. You won't walk away hungry or broke. And then the most valuable thing of all is the service. Here, there are genuine smiles and welcoming words that make you want to return just to experience the hospitality again.”

“Great place for a meal and cuppa and centrally located in the Hutt. Food is ok and we had the spicy chicken rice and steak with chips. The rice was similar to a tom yum flavoured dish however was a little oily. Steak wasn’t too bad. Coffee and service was fantastic though and will definitely be back to try their other items.”

“A good bakery has NO food at the end of the day, good food, friendly staff and a real busy bakery. A great place to grab a feed on the run or sit down and relax. Yes this place gets frantically busy, but 4 cashier places helps move you along. But relax and select well or try something knew.”
