Really underrated spot in Petone. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. It is a very peaceful cafe compared to others down the road that are a lot more βfancyβ and loud. Have yet to try any of the food but the stuff in the cabinet looks good at a glance, and they make excellent coffee.
First visit to Palace Cafe, we were there around 3pm on Sunday. Kitchen was still in operation and there was plenty of food in the displays. I ordered a BLT, the salad used was the freshest I have ever come across. The bacon was also very tasty. Having cheese in a BLT was strange.
Nice cafe in Petone. Great looking food in the cabinet, and a good menu, very well priced. Had a couple of items from the lunch selection - corn fritters, and BLT. Both were served quickly, were large portions, and tasted good. We also had a nice berry smoothie and iced chocolate, both of which were good.
If I could rate Palace Cafe higher, I would. There are three stand out things here. First, is the truly home made cabinet food. It's so wonderful to go somewhere and not see the same old bulk supply slices and biscuits. This is food with real flavour. Second is the delicious, generous and very reasonably priced meals. You won't walk away hungry or broke. And then the most valuable thing of all is the service. Here, there are genuine smiles and welcoming words that make you want to return just to experience the hospitality again.
Cute wee cafe on the ever busy Jackson Street, it might not look like me ch but the food is tasty, fast, and the service is friendly and welcoming. The most reasonably priced cooked breakfast options you will find anywhere in Petone!
This place is amazing! I went here for lunch today with 2 work colleagues and had a great experience. The owners were lovely and provided us with great customer service. The food was so delicious and the serving sizes were more than generous considering the cheap prices. I had the satay chicken toasted wrap and it was mouth watering!
Mince on toast with thick gravy was delicious, it had a tinge of sweetness and I added a couple of poached eggs that when popped, complimented the mince. The portion was very generous. The Kings breakfast was fulfilling, delicious and bacon a crunchy delight. Portions and costs definitely worthwhile you visiting.
It was a cold, Saturday morning and the wind blew bitingly down Jackson Street. The only solution was to go to the Palace Cafe and have The Best French Toast in town. The cabinet food looked good also, but 8c with windchill meant that a scone would not cut it. The BFTIT was up to its usual standard (see photo). The FT itself was hot, light and fluffy. The fruit selection was generous and the coffee was tasty and hot also. Plus it arrived promptly. Go there - you won't be disappointed.
Amazing food and service! We ordered the King and French Toast today: the servings were generous and the food tasted great. The fruits with the French toast were fresh - my daughters loved it - and the lady behind the counter was very friendly! Will definitely go there again on our next trip to Wellington/Petone :)
