“Great food and really friendly staff. We had a Korean burger which was divine and a Wagu burger which was also perfectly delicious. Great chips. Not oily but very crisp. And most of all great coffee.”
“Highly recommend this cafe! All the food is made by the lovely lady who owns the cafe and it’s delicious, so much choice and the coffee is always perfect. We love the chocolate brownie walnut slice.”
“Great food, warm atmosphere and staffs. Highly recommended.”
“It was my first visiting , I’m a matcha lover yet picky! I asked for an iced matcha latte with soy milk & strawberry syrup and oh my goodness, it was the best matcha I’ve tasted. Everything about the drink was refreshing, the matcha was well blended and the strawberry syrup added a nice sweetness to it! (not too sweet) it was perf and will definitely be going back to buy it! Shout out to one of the guys who made my drink! Lovely customer service and friendly environment.”
“Small but cute café in Christchurch CBD. I loved the artwork in the café. This place is giving me a chill vibe. My friend and I enjoyed our stay in the shop whilst drinking and chatting. Would love to visit here again once I’m back in Christchurch.”
“Absolutely love this place. Wonderful if you are working near the hospital and need a quick bite or coffee but also love taking my kids in for something delicious. Kim and Wil are super warm and welcoming. A must visit”
“Always love culture culture. Such delicious bagels and chai! Not bad prices too. Scrambled eggs, not so good. Bagels, drinks, and cabinet food are their specialty”
“This place used to be my go-to cafe in the mornings. The atmosphere is so peaceful, the staff are polite and welcoming, and their coffee always tastes great (added bonus for looking like a work of art every single time). I no longer live close by, but I will make a point of going here whenever I'm in the area, as it's definitely worth the time spent.”
“yum yum - best chips and best service from jess ”
“I've been frequenting El Faro (formerly Cafe Metro) since the relaunch with the new owners, for the last couple of years. Each visit has been a delightful and consistent experience. Great variety of food, all delicious, fair portions and prices. Staff are always friendly and upbeat. I've also enjoyed the variety of one off menu specials that celebrate other cultures and countries. This non cafe goer has been slowly coming around thanks to El Faro. My thanks and gratitude to the Team!”

“Friendly staff, great place to go with kids as they have a kids corner. Plenty of outdoor seating as well.”
“Here there after seeing the name on Google Maps and liked the description! The actual experience was much much better. We were able to choose a quieter room but still full of colour like the rest. My food choice had avocado in it with peas - absolutely yummy. The wine was ambrosial! Servings are not huge which we appreciated but the flavours and textures were just succulent!”
“Very surprised with the service and delicious food, probably one of the best burgers I've tried in a while (very well seasoned and juicy patty). Smoothie is fresh as! Deep-fried pickle - yummy!”
“Great coffee with a nice big free car park outside. Easy to get a coffee passing through. Scones were delicious too. Good vibes”
“We went for lunch on Saturday for the first time. The service was very good, the staff was super friendly and kept us informed about how to order when ready and how long the food will take. Generous portions. I had the fish burger and the fish was fresh and overall not too oily. My partner had the beef burger and liked it despite not being a fan of brioche bun but it did not fall apart when eating. The place is clean and the decor and venue are quite cool. Not too far from Hamilton but it feels like an outing in the countryside. And good to have the large carpark.”
“Ordered via Uber Eats. Coffee was delicious (I love wild goat) pies and double happies are good quality also. Everything was really delicious and the place is definitely worth a revisit. We were all very satisfied with our food.”
“Staff are some of the friendliest I have come across in any cafe. Great relaxing atmosphere and super chill space to chat or just do some work online etc. I want to recommend Charday (I can't remember how to spell her name properly sorry), she was so so kind and sweet. I love their massive bowl coffees, last for ages and good value. One of my fav cafes and atmospheres in Hamilton as far as cafes go.”
“Good food and coffee. Plenty of keto friendly food. Highly recommended their cauliflower fries”

“A super creative touch: they can serve coffee in a corn cup lined with vanilla or chocolate flavouring. You drink the coffee, then eat the cup! How cool is that?! Best seats: Definitely by the window !!!perfect for enjoying the view while sipping your coffee.”

“What a great find, lovely setting has several outdoor tables as well as those indoors. The indoor decor matches the idyllic feel of the cafe. We were given a selection of 10 tens to choose for to accompany our High Tea. Both of us were suitable full and enjoyed it. The ladies that served us well lovely and friendly. Explaining the different tea options were ,and what we food we were eating. Definitely worth seeking out !”
