“THIS bar is has come along way and is now bit of a hidden gem in Hornby. The rustic look of the bar and its layout is great. Also the prices are very, very welcoming. Makes you want to stay longer. Has a pool table too and plenty of space. Their seafood basket is too die for too. You won't be sorry visiting here!”

“After check in at the Quality Hotel Elms, we wandered downstairs and asked the front desk about nearby pubs with patios. The ‘concierge’? said, “we have a patio”. I said “I need craft beer that is not Heineken or Budweiser”. The concierge smiled and said “we have that”. I said “show me this goodness”. We sat outside on the Fig Restaurant and Bar patio for a few hours and ran the Monteith's brewery tap list. We were lucky in that this seemed to be the only pub/bar in the area that actually had a patio and we made the most of it. Beer was great. Service was great. I think they also ran the restaurant in the hotel but am not 100% sure so wont comment on the food.”

“My wife and I had been talking about going to Barberra over the last week, only to see a recent Instagram post indicating some changes coming - which motivated us to pop in. The main attraction being the Kokoda (pronounced Ko-kon-da), which is a Fijian version of the Samoan oka / raw fish. We were looking forward to the Beef Rib which featured on an online menu but wasn’t on the in-house menu when we arrived. We thought they seemed short staffed given the number of diners - but to be honest, we didn’t feel we waited very long at all. The frickle (fried pickle) is a bit weird and sweet, but apart from that the rest of our dishes were great - including the kokoda. Only other very minor gripe was the pork belly which wasn’t as tender as we hoped but we still shovelled that down. Would easily return if the opportunity arises.”

“We had booked a table for dinner incase it was busy there being a Saturday night, pleased we did as it was a very popular place to be. Wait staff were prompt and friendly, helpful with questions and offered great service. The food was delicious. Salt and Pepper Squid entree was excellent and my rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. Thoroughly enjoyed our night here and would definitely eat here again.”

Loads of seating. Modern, comfortably enviroment, with local shuttle service. Friendly, helpful bar staff. Opening a tab for meals & drinks is not a problem with Specators member card. Plenty of TAB facilities. Great fun for a night out, spend a little or alot.”

Enjoyed the food and experience enough to come back again today.
