My self and 3 friends went for dinner 7pm Sun 26th Oct. Three ordered the Pork Belly, one the Lamb Shank. All tasted great, and no issues with the shank, BUT the pork crackling that was on the menu to come with the pork was absent in all 3 pork belly meals. Once we noticed I approached the wait staff re the missing crackling. He wasn't sure but thought they had run out of the crackling, but would check. He came back to the table to confirm there was no crackling, and they had indeed run out. This was quite disappointing. We didn't get an actual apology, but much worse than that, we should at the very least, have been told when ordering that the crackling was unavailable. There were only 2-3 tables being served, and only us when we left, so not busy. Having made them aware that we weren't informed , they could have offered to discount the meals a little (though we were on a 2 for 1 Entertainment Book voucher), or offered a free drink/dessert/something to compensate. The food tasted great, but crackling is normally a treat when ordering Pork Belly. We left, somewhat disappointed, underwhelmed and unsure if will will return again. Previous visits have been fine.

First visit last weekend ... impressed by decor and very comfortable dining chairs. Staff attentive, friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Food delicious - my pork dish superb.

Ordered from the meat menu. The suggested mushroom sauce was extremely good and so were the angus beef and porkchop. The fries were so good we ordered a second serving. The mashed potatoes on the other hand was quite a let down, sort of like baby food. The tiramisu was very good for dessert, one of the best I have eaten. Overall, although the food is pricey it was well worth it. The service and atmosphere was really good, the restaurant is not too loud and feels comfortable and cozy. Definitely worth it and will come back!

After check in at the Quality Hotel Elms, we wandered downstairs and asked the front desk about nearby pubs with patios. The βconciergeβ? said, βwe have a patioβ. I said βI need craft beer that is not Heineken or Budweiserβ. The concierge smiled and said βwe have thatβ. I said βshow me this goodnessβ. We sat outside on the Fig Restaurant and Bar patio for a few hours and ran the Monteith's brewery tap list. We were lucky in that this seemed to be the only pub/bar in the area that actually had a patio and we made the most of it. Beer was great. Service was great. I think they also ran the restaurant in the hotel but am not 100% sure so wont comment on the food.

A very nice restaurant. Has the advantage of being associated with the Elms Hotel.

Worst food I perhaps ever had. I went there with family and everything was average at best and terrible at the worst. My mother's fish of the day was old and the taste was different to the one they said it was. My steak, although I ordered it medium it came out medium rare and; I asked for it to be cooked a little more. It showed up literally burnt to a coal on the outside while still undercooked on the inside. On top of that, all of the sides were frozen, the seasonal vegetables were like the ones you can buy from New World in the frozen section and the cherries that were part of my Dad's meal were the pitted ones you can also but in a New World. The prices were also insane, $40 for a small steak with a side and a sauce. Even for fine dining that is expensive. Overall we were very disappointed and will not be coming back. I honestly don't think this chef knows how to cook.

First time had dinner at Fig on Papanui road. Had two entree ( chargrilled squid and Fig fried chicken) and two main ( pan fried market fish and chicken paillard)which made us full and unfortunately was no room for dessert. Entree was good especially fried chicken was so so good. But the main meal was not for me. Pan fried fish came with a soup and the chicken was under cooked. Plating was pretty.

A hidden gem. We had a really enjoyable dinner. Friendly and thoughtful service from our waiter Alex. The kids meals were generous with a good variety to suit the palettes. The dish of the night for the adults was the rib eye which was full of flavour and cooked to perfection.
