“Had a great family event at Speight's Ale House Petone. Thank you Rory, Karen, bar staff and kitchen for making our evening run so smooth with great service and food was delicious - the Lamb Shanks were a hit! Great customer service our family felt so welcomed and special. We got to enjoy a fun evening just catching up while flow of meals, addtional requests and drinks were served in perfect timing and accommodating our kids meals was wonderful. Thanks again Justin and Speight's team for accommodating our group and organising a set menu. We had a great time, will be back again.”
“Kiana was AMAZING. She was such a legend. Needs a pay rise - made the best cosmo I’ve ever had in my life”
“Great spot, the refit has been done well, one of the better places to perch up in Central wellington. Anna the bar tender was great and some hilarious banter! Recommended”
“Was in on a Tuesday for dinner. Atmosphere was awesome as it was quiz night. Managed to find a good table. Staff were great, quick and attentive service. Had the Fish Special “Hake” and dam it was tasty.”
“I was invited and signed in by a friend and was pleasantly satisfied. Food was great.”
“Lovely last minute dinner on a rainy night. Wonderfully looked after by the team (Riley?) Was particularly good, and made us feel welcomed. All three courses and the cocktail were yum”
“We had such a wonderful evening at Dillingers. The WOAP burger was delicious, nice cold beer and excellent quiz! A wonderful Tuesday out.”
“Love coco's - it is one of my regulars. Coco the owner is a fabulous hostess - she always remembers your order and is super friendly. Their menu is a hidden gem with something for everyone.”
“Had dinner there with my sons Not only Sunday kid free meal The food is very tasty too. Will definitely come back again.”
“This has been our go to place for many years and food has always been consistent as the owners have not changed. Our favourites are the deep fried chicken wings, hainanese chicken rice, hokkien char and combination fried noodle. Owners are friendly and are always greeted with a smile. The decor is pretty simple but tidy and clean. Parking is ample however does get busy during the weekends.”
“We rocked up a little late but great service (with a smile) greeted us. Wonderful atmosphere and warm on this windy winters night. Bottle of Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc topped it off.”
“This restaurant was chosen because it offers gluten-free pizza, in addition to the breathtaking view that captivates both the heart and the eyes.”
“I try vegan ramen everywhere I go, and The Ramen Shop in Wellington goes above and beyond! From two vegan ramen broth options (mushroom shoyu or spicy miso), to vegan Kimchi, tofu bao, and a Mapo Tofu rice bowl, everything from the clean food to the ambiance and excellent service, keep coming back!”
“I have had lunch here on a weekday, and dinner on a Friday night but early. Both times I enjoyed the plant-based food and the atmosphere of the place. For dinner I had the fajita tofu bowl (pictured) - I cannot rant enough about how good and perfectly cooked their tofu is. Verrae nice: crunchy crust and not soggy. Both times I enjoyed having quite a few options to choose my meal from, and how fresh the ingredients are. It’s also handy that this restaurant is right on the beach, and handy for parking and the bus stops. Staff have been very responsive and helpful both times, so 5 stars it is! Will be back to try the other menu options.”
“The dumplings were very good, what stood out was the chilly oil. Very polite staff, patiently took our order of multiple things .. Small place, mostly seems to be a take away oriented place but there is still some place to sit and eat.”
“Spent at least an hour walking the quiet streets of Wellington during labour weekend to look for Sunday lunch. Stumbled on this gem of a place that’s to the strong winds. Thank you Natalie for the service and thanks chef for the outstanding delicious seafood curry and roti. Blown away by the fresh mussels and the presentation too. Thank you so much”
“We come here a lot to play but my daughters birthday party was at Chipmunks Lyall Bay today. It was AMAZING! The recent upgrades have made the venue so awesome all the kids loved it. The food was great, the party house was great, but the best part was how friendly the staff were- it was so busy and they were still able to make sure we had everything we needed and more! They were so caring and made it such a special and easy day for us. Highly recommend Chipmunks Lyall Bay, thank you guys I am so grateful for help in making my girls day so special!”
“We’ve just moved into Ngaio and thought we’d try a takeaway from Tandoori Nights. The staff were polite the service prompt. Our curries were excellent including the samosas and onion bhajis. We’ll certainly be frequent visitors.”
“I visited this lovely little cafe on a daily basis while staying in Kelburn Castle. I welcomed warmly and have a problem with my request but unfortunately very unfortunate. He watches me treat them with others with the same cheerful patience and the clientele is varied. The food is excellent and the coffee superb. The best little coffee I've ever found.”
“We will be forever grateful to Weddings at Foxglove for our amazing wedding. Alley you’re an absolute dream to work with, you made our day so seamless and stress free. I recommend you everywhere and to everyone. Our friends and family are still talking about the food and service. There’s absolutely nothing we’d have done differently, thank you!”
“This pub is everything you could possibly want from a local spot. Great food, great prices, and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back. The staff are fantastic—friendly, attentive, and always up for a chat, which adds to the warm, relaxed vibe. Whether you're popping in for a casual drink, a meal with mates, or a weekend catch-up, this place delivers every time.”
“Floyd's Cafe is my go-to spot. The staff are super lovely, the food and coffee are delicious, and the prices are reasonable. It's got a nice, chill vibe that I love. Highly recommend checking it out—you won't be disappointed!”
“I love this place so much! It's the kind of place where you absolutely know you are always going to get great service and amazing food. We went to try the Burger Wellington offerings, and unlike most other places, it was amazing for my non vegan partner and my vegan self to feel like we were both having the same experience, as there are matching burgers. I would absolutely recommend this place for a great meal out and even more so if you have a fur baby, as they have a whole extra menu, just for them!”
“Our favourite burgers! Love that they cater for allergies and gluten free. Yummiest kumara fries too! So worth the drive across Wellington for these - best Burger Wisconsin in Wellington!”
“Satay Village has been a favourite dine in and take away for my large family and friends for many years! The food and atmosphere is great and the owners Don, Lisa and Wai Man are very friendly, lovely and always welcoming. We will sadly miss coming and seeing you and we wish you all the very best for the future! Thank you from all the BRYAN CLAN Danielle, Kevin and Family and friends!! Caroline & Damian Kells (Singapore) Max and Sam Kells (Singapore) Desiree Stewart and Family Bree and Luke & Family Brigitta Bryan and whole Bryan Family”
“This place never fails. Great food, service, drinks, coffee, parking, public transport- everything! The menu is fab,. But people come for the daily specials. This is shown in a light board. You can check that out as you drive past,as well as check on how busy ( buzzy) it is. They do gluten free with no fuss, kids, no problem ( the 25 yo hipster next me ordered children's menu chicken!). Try it. Think diner/cafe/neighbourhood bistro and you'll get it. Really, have an open mind and enjoy it.”
“Been coming here for years. Brothers are friendly and they treat you well. Good local shop for your local Friday night fish and chips.”
“Fish and chips is very good. Chips are crisp outside and fluffy inside, just the way they should be, and more consistently excellent than some hotels and cafes can manage. The Asian meals are ok, although fried rice was outstanding, generous portions and enough "wok breath" (where the rice has been exposed to sufficient heat in a hot wok long enough so it tastes like fried rice, not just rice warmed in a wok). Service is fine for a takeaway, efficient and polite, can't fairly expect anything more. Make sure your order is repeated back to you to avoid mistakes, especially over the phone, as it's a noisy environment.”
“I originally came in one day with my friend we where abot worried as it was some of our first bars in wellington and we had a lovely night the staff where so incredible and its kept me coming back everytime, all the bartenders have been lovely and chatty to me as always as they do a great job at keeping younger women such as myself and my friends safe the duty managers often are running around and still servicing with a smile which is honestly amazing especially when it's so packed . The staff have made that place what it is, and it's a safe and great place to drink highly recommend.”
“Very nice food I’m really enjoys”
