“Shout out to our planetarium guide at the 8:30 show last night (Wednesday Dec 3). Greeted us when we arrived. Shared his genuine enthusiasm for the stars and the mission of Space Place. The exhibits space is small/medium, but the quality was quite high and captures the teenagers with us (no small feat!) with the right level of engagement and knowledge share. You can easily spend a couple hours with the planetarium show. I live in Los Angeles and while Griffith Observatory is quite famous, the exhibit quality for kids, teens and adults is superior if you take the time to read the material and enjoy the video/interactive set ups.”
“Logan was very good at leading the tour and the whole thing was just very impressive and made me really proud to be a kiwi. We really have some amazing people in this little country or ours”
“Was my Nephews Birthday, his parents shouted us.. The food was yummy.”
“The best playgroup in Wellington! Karen, the coordinator is just lovely and it feels like coming home each week.”
“I have had the privilege of both of my children attending Montessori Children's House for their preschool years (3-6). Both children left Montessori for primary school with amazing foundations in reading, writing and maths. Not only this, but the environment and opportunities that Montessori provides to be creative, sporty and to explore nature and science, has been instrumental in allowing my children to become well rounded and ready for the world. The facilities are fantastic and the teaching team and management are supportive, kind and caring. The children and I found it very difficult to leave when it came time for primary school.”
“We initially chose All About Children Naenae because it was a smaller centre and had a nice large outdoor space compared to our previous centre. It was OK when we started but we did have a few doubts that we had made the right move. Since the new centre management has come in it feels more organised and structured and we feel really happy with our decision. The staff have been awesome especially over the COVID-19 lockdown and the communication has been excellent.”
“Our son started at Otari Montessori as a little boy and has just turned five, moving on to primary school. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to his learning journey. The Montessori philosophy, the incredible teachers, and the proximity to Otari Bush made for such a special experience. He had formative years filled with curiosity, independence, and a deep love for learning. We’re so grateful to the team for creating such a warm and inspiring environment!”
“The best early childcare centre in the city! Amazing kaiako, great ratios and each child valued for their unique strengths. Crossways is also a Registered charity - no corporate driven for profit vibes here.”
“We had a fantastic time doing the Atlantis room. It was challenging enough with a good variety of different puzzles. Very interactive which was fun. The experience was made even better by our host - we forget his name but he is from Argentina. He was so kind and passionate and made sure we left with some fun photos and knowledge of how some of the puzzles work! Thank you.”
“Welly’s newest mini-golf. Really has to be seen to be believed. A mind bending combination of craft, sport, art school project, and wholesome entertainment. A clear labour of love. Check it out and give some support.”
“I highly recommend Millie’s House Oxford Street. The teachers are friendly, all cultures are recognised and celebrated and it is evident that the kaiako really do care about the welfare and development of the children as individuals. We have loved being a part of the kindy community and will look back fondly on our time there as our son heads off to school. We feel that attending Millie’s House has aided our son immensely in his readiness for school as he has gained so much confidence in himself, especially in regards to his social interaction with others.”
“Great spot to sit in the sun in the Cafe nearby in summer. Loved the van gogh exhibition at this location.”
“Hi just adding a review for Pridelands holiday programm Moses and his team are awesome, i have twins (teenagers)that go to their holiday day programms and have done for a few years now. Both boys enjoy being there. Lots of fun activities, burning off all the boredom with much to do there. My boys have ADHD and very much on the go 24/7, Pridelands have been wonderful with them. We recommend Pridelands Holiday Programm.”
“Awesome place, very friendly for newbies. Everyone there has been helpful and great to deal with. Good array of gear to use and lots of knowledge about it all.”
“What a hidden treasure this is. Ducks, gardens, eels and a place for children to play. Reminds me of Englands allotments gardens.”
“What a jewel for Upper Hutt! So many activities for kids of all ages and abilities. Great variety of safe, interesting, visual & tactile activities for those with sensory issues and easy access, smooth paths to navigate prams, strollers & wheelchairs - though watch out when near the skate ramps! For the more ambitious & rambunctious there are climbing, jumping, balancing & strength activities. Truly something for everyone”
“The kids and dog loved it here lots of room to throw a ball around for the dog as well as the kids playing tag”
“A nice walkway next to the wharf that provides nice views of the harbor, and leads to a nice happening area with various restaurants, bars, and high end shops. The walk is flat and easy so can be managed by anyone with basic fitness, however it’s windy in general and in a windy day it gets slightly challenging to walk. The walk from the parking lot at this location to the shops is 1.6 KM / 1 mile. Walking from the parking lot to the other end will take at least 30 minutes with plenty of stops around monuments on the way.”
“Big long finned eel by the lower bridge today. A nice sheltered picnic spot with toilets, a shelter, and bbqs for public use.”
“Great garden magics with live music organised every January”
“Very nice venue for local events. The folks here in makara are very friendly and welcoming. Thank you”
“Such a big play area ..skate park as well .. specially after school..if kids wanted to play more ..water tap and toilets very handy”
“Mount Cook Primary School is an exceptional educational institution that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students to thrive. The dedicated teaching staff deliver engaging lessons, fostering academic excellence and curiosity. The school's focus on character development, teamwork, and community values helps students become confident, empathetic, and responsible individuals. Modern facilities and resources enhance the learning experience, while the school's welcoming atmosphere encourages family involvement. I had the privilege of attending Mount Cook Primary School for eight wonderful years, and I can confidently attest to its excellence. My time here was truly transformative, and I cherish the memories and lessons learned. The school's impact on my development and love for learning has been profound. Rating: 5/5 stars.”
“Had a wonderful time here with my little man while in Wellington. Access is free but donations are requested. They had the cardboard town set up so we went in one of the tunnels to play. They also have a reading corner, colouring/art area, and photo booth ($2). Coffee for parents is available for $3. We will go again next time we are in Wellington!”
“A great theatre for medium size productions”
“Friendly and helpful service. The staff who have helped me with my sofa seem as enthusiastic about colour and fabric as I am, which makes me feel like they care about the furniture and fabrics that they sell.”
“This is a great park, lots of open space, used for events like summer soccer and various shows. Public toilets, a decent playground and the location of the Uppet Hutt cricket club. Generally easy to find a park around the side streets if you can't find one on the main road.”
“Wonderful new cafe, lots of animals and variety of landscapes such as streams, waterfalls, hills. Well worth visiting though take care on the narrow road to Staglands.”
