The staff member who took our order didn’t ask if we wanted to apply the advertised deal. The promotion should clearly state that customers must explicitly request itβ€”otherwise, it’s misleading and feels like a scam. Blaming customers for not mentioning the deal defeats the purpose of advertising it in the first place. Very poor service.

As someone who has been to Japan a couple times and loves Japanese food, I can confidently say that it’s not authentic. I had the spicy tonkotsu ramen, the pork is delicious but the spiciness does not make the noodle more delicious but hard to eat. The noodle also has that kinda of weird taste to it οΌˆιΉΌζ°΄ε‘³οΌ‰ which is not that pleasing to eat. The dumplings are Chinese dumplings instead of Japanese ones which is very disappointing. I personally do not suggest this place, unless all you want is a bowl of hot noodles.

Feeling the need for good ramen while in Newtown Wellington and The Ramen Shop did not disappoint. Ordered the Tonkotsu and was quickly served a generous portion. A well-seasoned, a very flavourful broth not overly dominant in aromats, and excellently prepared pork. Extra points won for the loud slurping noises around me. A good sign the other patrons enjoyed their meals as much as I. Paired with an apple kombucha, a very satisfying midday meal. A++

Great place for a quick lunch. I visited here few weeks back with my wife on our way back to Wellington CBD. It was a surprise to see a ramen shop in Wellington because ramen doesn’t seem to be very common in New Zealand. It was great to see some local people dining here and we decided to try it for ourselves. We ordered a spicy tonkotsu ramen each, along with few pieces of karaage. Karaage was okay - creamy batter and juicy meat. Spicy tonkotsu ramen was surprisingly spicier than we thought. I don’t think I had a ramen as spicy as this one. Because my wife and I are used to extreme spiciness, we found it pleasant. But for some, I can see this dish being a bit extreme. Food was served quickly and the staff were friendly.

Pretty average ramen. The pork was sub par but the noodles were nice. The broth was almost instant ramen like. Nice staff

No fuss Ramen shop. Of cos not quite like the ramen we're used to back home but works. The Takoyaki was great too. The Bao Bun could do with more seasoning and more pickled cucumbers though.

I try vegan ramen everywhere I go, and The Ramen Shop in Wellington goes above and beyond! From two vegan ramen broth options (mushroom shoyu or spicy miso), to vegan Kimchi, tofu bao, and a Mapo Tofu rice bowl, everything from the clean food to the ambiance and excellent service, keep coming back!
