“I’ve been coming to Aunty Mena’s regularly for years and it never disappoints. Their wonton noodle soup is fantastic, the broth is so light, refreshing, and full of flavour, with perfectly cooked noodles, delicious wontons, and plenty of fresh vegetables, It’s a very comforting meal! The crispy fried wontons with a tangy sweet and sour dipping sauce are also really good too! The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, they even remember me and my order every time I come in, which makes it feel extra special. Aunty Mena’s is truly a gem and easily my favourite restaurant ever!”

“Have been able to try many of the dinner options. Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The venison and lamb have been cooked perfectly, tender and succulent. Fresh gourmet veges, jus and sauces. Highly recommend any of the dishes. The duck was also amazing.”

“Quaint small restaurant with a good atmosphere. Food was great. We really enjoyed our evening here and would definitely recommend this to other people. The restaurant was very busy the night we visited with a large family group, but the staff remained calm, friendly and upheld good service levels which we were impressed by. They also offer takeaway food which is good to know for my next visit to the Kapiti Coast.”

“Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet whilst staying at the James Cook hotel- we are a family of 7 so that helped us save a lot. Staff are great and welcoming. They have the best pancakes freshly made to order. We did have dinner one night where kids got to eat free with every paying adult but I found $65 to be quite excessive for the quality of food. Service was still great though:-)”

“We often stay at the nova tel when in Wellington so we do dinner at the caucus restaurant Only a small menu but seasonal and changes offer Tonight was breads and dip, scotch fillet with a side of short rib The scotch was ever so slightly over done for me but still good and the short rib was amazing melt in your mouth We got the sides of pumpkin , carrots and chips And finished it off with the pistachio cake Good food and good service from Noee and Mereana”

“Such good food served by the friendly owner who was very attentive. He was also very funny and had a great sense of humor about one in our party being late. I tried the veggie red & green curries and both were perfectly done and piled full of vegetables. The rice is super fresh and doled our generously every few minutes so you don’t have to worry about getting hungry.”

“It was an excellent culinary experience. The owner was extremely welcoming. The Indian food as well as the lamb was amazing. I highly recommend stopping by. The menu was very diverse, so, if you have a group that has difficulty finding a restaurant, this may be the place for you. The interior was nice and kept clean.”

“Have booked a table using first table. The table itself was on a smaller side but with a nice view to the street. Very attentive staff and beautiful atmosphere and nice art Delicious meals! Got lovely tuna and oyster mushrooms for starters and steak and cauliflower as main dishes (accomodating vegan options)!”

“Great vegan indian meal in Wellington! The service was amazing and the lunch deal is just great value for money. I followed the advice of the waiter and ordered Kadai Soya and it was just amazing. The vegan roti could be improved but still tasty. There are some construction works outside but didn't really bother during the meal. Highly recommend it!”

“Amazing atmosphere and real, authentic Indian cuisine. If you are a real fan of proper spicy food (and you can really handle the heat), mention "Indian hot" with your order. The staff were very polite and the owner came around a few times to ensure that we had everything we needed. Thank you for a slice of tasty spice wonderland in Wellington! “Stumbled upon this gem while on a road trip in Welly. We had the bibimbap and pork yukgaejang - blown away by the generous amount of ingredients in the dishes and the rich flavours. Even with the lack of variety in their side dishes, the main dishes compensated for it as they were packed with ingredients. Will revisit if passing by!”

“A surprise find in Jackson st Petone. A really nice well laid out restaurant, friendly helpful staff and a great range of Thai food available. The servings were a generous size and very tasty. My wife is a Thai chef and she was impressed. The priceing is resonable with our two main meals and a drink costing $45. Happy to recommend Smile Elephant and will be visiting again when we head to Welly. We went back and I got the spare ribs and chips, my wife curried chicken noodle bowl. ❣️”
