“I’ve been coming to Aunty Mena’s regularly for years and it never disappoints. Their wonton noodle soup is fantastic, the broth is so light, refreshing, and full of flavour, with perfectly cooked noodles, delicious wontons, and plenty of fresh vegetables, It’s a very comforting meal! The crispy fried wontons with a tangy sweet and sour dipping sauce are also really good too! The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, they even remember me and my order every time I come in, which makes it feel extra special. Aunty Mena’s is truly a gem and easily my favourite restaurant ever!”

“We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday and the place had a steady stream of customers either eating in or taking away. My boyfriend and I both ordered the dosa and agreed it was some of the best we’d had. The service was super attentive (given the chef / owner was the only one working that shift), the food was delicious, and the restaurant and toilets were nice and clean. We’ve both happily agreed to make this a new regular.”

“We call up and order chicken jalfrezi which isn’t on the menu but they still make it for us… absolutely delicious and perfect spicyness… we can smell it as we are walking through the subway. Mmm . Sometimes he will give us a free naan just for being regular customers. The best taste in Wellington. We can remember when they first opened. They now have a great reputation. Highly recommended. “Great vegan indian meal in Wellington! The service was amazing and the lunch deal is just great value for money. I followed the advice of the waiter and ordered Kadai Soya and it was just amazing. The vegan roti could be improved but still tasty. There are some construction works outside but didn't really bother during the meal. Highly recommend it!”

“Amazing atmosphere and real, authentic Indian cuisine. If you are a real fan of proper spicy food (and you can really handle the heat), mention "Indian hot" with your order. “Ok so I'm a Indian cuisine nut, I've been to so many restaurants I've lost count, but.... After dining here for my birthday last week I'm completely in love with this place. A table of 6 and everyone was so happy and amazed at there food it was crazy... It was beautiful... The service was awesome and it was all at the table in moments. “This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area (possibly in Wellington). Their food is well prepared and delicious. I tried the chicken sola —which is classified as a ‘starter’— and it has a full dinner’s worth of chicken, and it has a kick! The fried poppadom is so tasty and the garlic naan is GREAT. My family loves the butter chicken, especially my son who orders ‘Butter the Chicken’ off the kids menu. The only curious thing was how three people in my party ordered butter chicken and each person’s butter chicken came out in staggered order, my wife’s, then my daughter’s, and then my son’s. It was all extremely tasty, though, so no worries.”

“My partner recently discovered this amazing place and, to our delight, we found out that the chef who owns it used to work at Higher Taste India down at Lambton Quay before it closed down. We were big fans of that place and felt saddened by its closure. We've been on the lookout for another delicious and reasonably priced Vegan Indian restaurant. Finally, we decided to give this place a try, and for lunch, I ordered the Vegetarian Manchurian with Basmati rice. The portion was more than generous, and the flavors were exquisitely balanced and exceptional. The experience was so delightful that we are already planning to make this restaurant a regular dining spot for us.”

“Great little venue Booked a table for 5, which was a good idea as it packed out in no time. We were greeted and shown to our table, and our drinks order was taken quickly. Good selection of options and everyone found something they wanted. The food selection catered for everyone also, and after the tough decision of only choosing one thing, we all ordered. The food came out quickly, it was a good temperature, and with good portion sizes. The staff were all very nice and helpful, the venue location is well situated, and the atmosphere was fun. We all agreed we'd be back.”

“The chef was so nice and welcoming. He confirmed my order: naan, dahl makhani, lamb achari, and rice. Cooked it fresh and when he forgot the samosas that were in the order, made those fresh too! Spice levels were perfect, not overpowering, and hit the spot!”

“I had a wonderful experience at the Indian Sweets and Snacks shop in Newtown. The food is absolutely delicious, and the sweets are beautifully decorated and always fresh. The customer service is excellent – the staff are friendly and genuinely care about their customers. On one occasion, I accidentally forgot my wallet at the shop. Later that evening, I called them and was relieved to find out they had kept it safe for me. When I went back with my daughter to collect it, the staff were so kind and even offered sweets to her. That thoughtful gesture really touched me.”
