“My simple words will not do any justice to this place. This is beyond imagination and best place to feel the nature of its vibe along with the sound of birds. If you love walking this is the place to be with your loved one but ensure you reach before 5pm. Since the place is just near the museum there is an open ground where we can park your car van free and roam tense free.”

“It was a nice experience at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. It was good that we arrived early, around 5:30 pm, because after that there were long queues for tickets, food stalls, and even Santa. Be really prepared for long queues, even the toilets had lines. There were lots of people lining up for food, especially the beef sausage wiener. We brought our own food but still ended up buying some because there were so many food options to choose from. The train and station were beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, both inside and outside the train, which really added to the festive atmosphere. There was also a short festive balloons display. Riding the vintage steam train and smelling the smoke and steam made the experience feel authentic and memorable.”

Tonight’s Halloween festivity finally made it happen — and what a wonderful experience it was! The atmosphere, the creativity, and the family-friendly fun made it truly special. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back to enjoy all the other events and experiences the village has to offer.”

“Wonderful story of Arboretums history. Lovely walk around - about 2 hrs with kids. Plenty art installations to see. Lovely Cafe with cake & ice cream. There's also Ruru Retreat - a cottage on site you can book through booking .com ( recommended).”

“This is a unique time capsule and an example of very clever late 19th/early 20th century innovations in domestic architecture/technology. Absolutely fascinating and guides were encyclopedic in their knowledge. Even the family history was attention grabbing. “Shout out to our planetarium guide at the 8:30 show last night (Wednesday Dec 3). Greeted us when we arrived. Shared his genuine enthusiasm for the stars and the mission of Space Place. The exhibits space is small/medium, but the quality was quite high and captures the teenagers with us (no small feat!) with the right level of engagement and knowledge share. You can easily spend a couple hours with the planetarium show. I live in Los Angeles and while Griffith Observatory is quite famous, the exhibit quality for kids, teens and adults is superior if you take the time to read the material and enjoy the video/interactive set ups.”

The store is also a highlight, packed with unique collectibles and memorabilia. If you love Hollywood films or creative storytelling, Wētā Cave is an experience you shouldn’t miss”

“While Katherine Mansfield did not live in this particular house for very long, the house is filled with lots of memorbillia and exhibits an extensive timeline board of her life. You could spend a hours here reading this and admiring, not only the house but the well presented garden. Any easy walk from the CBD where we were staying”

“If you are coming to Napier, the Art Deco Masonic Hotel is the perfect place to stay. The rooms are clean, fun, and comfortable. We originally only had a booking for 2 days but loved Napier and the hotel so much we booked an extra 2 days at the hotel. Victor at reception, and all the hotel’s staff, are very kind and accommodating. The hotel is in a great location, everything is walkable from it, and you’re right in the middle of downtown art deco center. When we return to Napier we will be staying at the Art Deco Masonic again!”

“Excellent food. Nice quirky place. The young lady who served the table was very gentle and kind. We ordered eggplant puree with naan bread for entrée and it was delicious. The lamb shank with mashed potato and rib beef and both meals were superb. It's a shame they don’t have beers but it goes with their tradition. Recommended!”
