   By far the best Indian restaurant in the Wellington region. We used to come here all the time when we lived in Lower Hutt but have been for couple of years having moved to Kapiti. So good to see that it hasn’t changed while we’ve been away. Highly recommend

   GR8 Tandoori in Lower Hutt is an absolute hidden gem! The food is packed with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. My Lamb Rogan Josh was rich, tender, and simply unforgettable. The Paneer Kastoori was delectable. Fresh "Flavourful Pulao" with real vegetables, and the platters with delightful starters, were really special. The staff were warm and attentive, particularly caring around gluten free options. If you love Indian cuisine, this is hands down one of the best spots in town!

   do not recommend at all purely based on service! we (3 ppl) went this week for lunch. we don’t usually finish a whole portion of food so the plan was to split two lunch deals (which is still too much food for us). when we ordered we got told that they will only give us two chairs and one person wasn’t allowed to eat in the restaurant. we were forced into buying three lunch deals so we could all sit in the restaurant! we ended up having so much food left over and then had to pay more for takeaway boxes! such a shame bc we have been going here for years and this experience has ruined this place for us. the staff member was also very rude when they told us one person couldn’t eat inside (even tho the restaurant was empty).

   On Monday 17/11/2025, we had a really wonderful dinner at GR8 Tandoori Indian Restaurant, Lower Hutt. We would like to thank Mr Sandee for his exceptional service. His professionalism, knowledge, and patience made our dining experience truly unforgettable. He took the time to advise us on the best options, and his recommendations were spot on. The food was outstanding - the tomato soup, Dal, and prawn curry were particularly impressive. But what really made our evening special was the kindness, friendliness, and attentiveness of Sandee. Please pass on our thanks and congratulations to him for a job well done. We will definitely be back and looking forward to another fantastic meal!

   Best Indian we've had in the Hutt so far! My hubby had the lamb vindaloo and I had a paneer dish. Both were absolutely outstanding! Service was also amazing:) keep up the amazing work team! We can't wait till our next visit!!!

   Any restaurant can give good service, but I'm of the long-held opinion that it's the Indian's that know how to give hospitality. Here is no exception. Second visit, and both times I've been welcomed in like a long-lost relative and well looked after. They do it very well. The starter came with the main which annoys me no end, and it wasn't very good. Onion bahji reheated numerous times. Certainly wasn't freshly made. The Butter Chicken was good.

   Gr8 Tandoori I'm not so sure... Good Tandoori probably yes. Conveniently delivered in Lower Hutt for $12 extra within about 45min. Butter Chicken (medium heat) was nice and creamy but too sweet for my liking. Other members of our group enjoyed a Chicken Madras and a pea-heavy Vegan style dish.

   We had a large group at Gr8 Tandoori for dinner. Pradeep was looking after us and gave excellent service. He was attentive, respectful, patience, and super accommodating as we had to add extra chairs. The food was tasty and the atmosphere pleasant. We had a great time and would highly recommend Gr8 Tandoori for your next meal out!
