   This was my first time going to Ammus, it has been recommended by numerous friends and colleagues as a great place to grab dinner in. Unfortunately, while the food was delicious my service was absolutely appalling. My waitress was a young girl with dyed hair and lots of facial piercings, she was very chatty but not very good at listening. After myself and two friends had received their meals we began to wonder where my husband's meal was after 10 minutes I went and asked another waitress if my husband's meal was almost ready when I was informed it had not been placed on the order. I understand mistakes happen however it took another 20 minutes for my husband's meal to come out and on top of this when I went to pay and requested the bill, I saw that I had been charged for an extra garlic naan that I did not order nor receive. Again I understand that mistakes happen but when confronted with this my waitress as described previously immediately began to deflect and deny ,trying to place blame on another waitress who I had not even interacted with. I found this appalling and when I insisted that it was her who had made the mistake as she is the one who took our order she just began to laugh and gave me a half ass-ed apology. It was clear she did not want to accept that she had made a mistake nor did she want to give me a true apology still trying to deflect and make it seem as though she was not the one who made the mistake but her co-worker. This truly dampened the entire experience. I will return but I will be requesting another server should she be there.

   My family loved Ammu at the old location,this was the first visit at the new location. The service was efficient and the food came out fast. We have ordered Ammu on delivery services previously but the food was so much better in store! The naan bread was so plush. I highly recommended Ammu, support local!

   We visited Ammu South Indian Restaurant in Upper Hutt and had a wonderful experience. The customer service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed ✨ The food was amazing! The Chicken 65 was full of flavour and cooked just right. The Porotta with Lamb Fry was delicious and satisfying. And the Mango Lassi was refreshing, and just perfect. It’s been a while since we had such tasty South Indian food. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

   Met a friend here for a mid-week lunch. This was my first time and my friends regular go to. I can understand why, it was really lovely food. I was very impressed with the huge menu selection that I’ve never come across before. Our meals were brought out to us promptly by friendly professional staff that were very tasty and of a high standard. A spacious restaurant that could cater big crowds very easily.

   I found the food moderately good.. However, I encountered a significant issue with the restaurant’s ventilation; upon entering, I experienced eye irritation, likely due to inadequate exhaust systems. While the cuisine has its merits, I hope the management addresses the ventilation concerns to enhance the overall dining experience.

   Dosa and paneer curry was good specially lunch deal was nice. Pakoras were uncooked from inside so can be improved. Garlic roti and paneer kulcha can also be improved as it was somewhat chewy.Plater was good but panner was chewy so softness can be improved.loved drink options

   The best food in wellington i ever had. Made my evening with beautiful and tasty food. We order bindi do pyaza and malai kofta. So yumm. Fully satisfied with service. Definitely visit soon. Thanks team.

   Cool to have an Indian Restaurant with a point of difference in Upper Hutt. Only a few years ago we had one Indian restaurant. Now the Upper Hutt City area has 10 and huge competition with many excellent food options and top service! Add to this fair prices. Ammu is focused on South Indian with Sea Food delicacies and good alcohol options.
