“For our stay it was amazing. Nice clean and tidy room, welcoming and helpful staff, great location to the CBD and events we were attending. I will note for the room we had the view wasn't the greatest, but we were there for the events not the view from the room.”

“I stay here frequently…. So why? The single room is perfect… a classic, traditional pub hotel room. No pretending, spotlessly clean, well appointed will all the quintessentials. This property represents absolute excellent value. Furthermore, these marvellous old pubs are a what cities were once about. “The Sunday night roast smorgasbord is a great value quality meal in a bright open plan venue. The food delivery is fast and easy to access with large numbers of customers present. Many in our group had seconds, so plenty of quality cuts of meat including roast beef, fish and pork roast were available. The deserts were excellent as was the service. We will back for our next large party event.”

“My always stay in Welly. Some rooms have been upgraded and are lovely others very tired but lovely and clean. Parking, bar and restaurant on site and a courtesy coach.”

“I used to skip this restaurant because of its low rating, but it completely surprised me — I was wrong! This is my second time trying their dim sum, and I felt compelled to write a review. The portions are generous with plenty of fillings, and everything tastes fresh and absolutely delicious. The salted egg yolk custard bun is a must-try, and the polo char siew bun were tasty. ( Sorry, the photos of the buns weren’t attached.)”

“Beautiful pub with a good selection of beer and wine. Some specific NZ branded beer as well. I liked the ambience, the staff were very friendly and greeted with a smile. I will definitely recommend this place. Gorgeous wait staff as well ;) The portion of snack is perfect for a person as well.”

“Love this place! Super cheap and in a great location. The Grazies restaurant is really beautiful and the steak meal was beautiful. The only downfall would be the buffet breakfast which I got last time I stayed. The food was cooked great, but I was just expecting a little more variety, like scrambled eggs, breakfast sausages, mushrooms etc, like what you would normally see. Definitely recommend this place the staff are really lovely too.”

“My family and I just spent 3 nights here and had a lovely stay. The rooms are excellent and the staff at the dinning room are very thoughtful and caring. A special thanks to Inder who helped my wife and I set up dinning for two young children every morning. I would definitely stay here again.”

“Have been able to try many of the dinner options. Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The venison and lamb have been cooked perfectly, tender and succulent. Fresh gourmet veges, jus and sauces. Highly recommend any of the dishes. The duck was also amazing.”

“Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet whilst staying at the James Cook hotel- we are a family of 7 so that helped us save a lot. Staff are great and welcoming. They have the best pancakes freshly made to order. We did have dinner one night where kids got to eat free with every paying adult but I found $65 to be quite excessive for the quality of food. Service was still great though:-)”

“Our rabbit has been boarding at Elite Bunny Retreat for 5+ years. He is always beautifully looked after and Byndie is genuinely pleased to see him! He gets a variety of different food and the hutches are a good size allowing him to move around freely.Highly recommended for your bunny.”

“I had 4 of my cats stay at Hillcrest for 18 days. They loved it, when they came back you could tell they had been well looked after and brushed. Would highly recommend sending your fur babies here.”

“Oscar returned from his stay looking relaxed and was very vocal about his time at the Pet Villa on the drive home. It is such a lovely setting and I am sure he will be happy to return there if we are going away in the future. Loved the Facebook photo updates and appreciated them being accommodating when our flight was delayed.”
