   One of the oldest continuously operating hostilries in Wellington the Sheperds Arms Hotel is primarily a local pub although it does have guest rooms about which I can't comment.My experience of the establishment has mainly been about the food (very good pub food) and the drink; a good array of beers on tap and a well stocked gantry. The service has always been attentive and rapid. The place can get busy on Friday evening after work but in general it isn't too difficult to get a table.

   Booked very short notice passing through overnight. Huge room, great menu, and doubt even the backpackers could compete on price! Highly recommend.

   The staff was kind, our room was spacious, and had clean towels, and a made bed. Buuuuut the carpet was filthy all the way up to and in the room. There was leftover hair on the floor, walls, and tub in the bathroom. The garbage can in bathroom has leftover traces of who knows what in it. There was dust on trim and sills throughout our room and there was mold in many places in bathroom—especially shower and tub. Great location, parking very cramped…. but free. Lastly, beware the restaurant closes pretty early…so if you want something to eat, you’ll have to go across the street to the little Chinese restaurant (but the food there was awesome). Feels like a team of young inexperienced people are running this place…just needs a bit more attention to detail and to what their guests would really appreciate.

   Grilled chicken burger is boss. Guinness is on tap. Service overall is excellent. Basic accommodation in an excellent location. Good for backpackers wanting a private option or postgraduate students wanting something central-ish

   Review is for restaurant. Just ate there tonight. Lemon lime bitters were gross, replaced. Kids nachoes served spicy on a plate that had been in the oven so was far too hot to touch. The burgers were average and salad was drenched in oil. No steak knife for steak. Had to remind them for the kids free drinks - twice, 'm normally quite fair with reviews but I won't be going back here.

   Well-stocked, clean rooms in a charming old building. Staff are accomodating (My flight arrived very late and they happily arranged a late check-in for me with notice despite their reception hours not extending to the time of my arrival), bed was comfortable and had an electric blanket, and the whole process was nice and straightforward. Thank you :)

   This place was one of my favourites in Wellington, sadly no longer. Ate here with friends a couple of weeks ago. The following day on looking at my bank account, I see they had OVERCHARGED me by $100. Called, left messages, emailed them. Received ONE phone call where the manager, someone I had previously held in high esteem, told me he'd talk to the girl who took my payment and ring me back. Did not hear from him again. I rang again and was told by another member of staff to send them my bank details. I did this and Finally after 3 days, was refunded my $100. No APOLOGY and no 'Gesture of good will' offered. Read another review where this happened before. Great food and previously loved the staff. This is very disappointing.

   Booked a room as we had an early sailing on the ferry. Check in was easy, took our bags to the room and went to the bar/restaurant to get dinner. Great food and friendly staff. When wr went to the room and checked a bit closer we found the bathroom was great till you looked up. The ceiling was a mess of old cracked paint and black mold, like horror movie level cracked paint and mold. We immediately went to the manager and informed him and without missing a beat he offered a full refund. Was very pleasant and helpful, but also not surprised in the slightest.

   Had lunch here after a bridal fitting with daughter across the road. Really liked the atmosphere, large bar area. Great menu. Espresso martinis were good! We ordered squid, fries, chicken burger, tacos. All our food was excellent, good tasty pub food and affordable. The winner was the garlic loaf, best I have ever had anywhere in NZ! The bread was delish and the whipped garlic butter was perfect. Would definitely go back!
